A TRALEE woman was a winner at the KPMG/Irish Independent Property Industry Excellence Awards at The Convention Centre, Dublin last Thursday.

Louise Cotter of Carr, Cotter and Naessens Architects in Cork was presented with the Design Project of the Year award for the Hanging Gardens building in Limerick City.

This isn’t the first award Louise — who is originally from St Brendan’s Park — has received for the project on Henry Street. Back in June, the project was a winner in the New Build Workplace category in the prestigious Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland annual awards.

In the past, Louise has designed the dlr LexIcon building in Dun Laoghaire, which received the Selwyn Goldsmith Award for International Design and the National Panel Special Award at the 2016 Civic Trust Awards in London. A year previously, the project scooped four Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland Awards.

The 2019 KPMG/Irish Independent Property Industry Excellence Awards seek to recognise the individuals, businesses, products and services that are driving innovation, embracing technology and contributing activities that are shaping the future of the Irish property industry.

They are open to everyone working within the property sector and are judged by representatives of all professional bodies, including CIF, SCSI, IPI, RIAI and IPAV amongst others.

Annually, the awards night sees 1,000 professionals convene at what is the largest gathering in Ireland of such a cross-fertilisation of industry participants, to celebrate what is now known as the Oscars of the Irish property industry.
