U14 Girls Blitz

At very short notice and with only one training sessions behind us, we travelled to Cork on Saturday 7th September for Fr Matthews U14 preseason tournament

We played our group games against St Mary’s Castleisland, and Malahide and though we didn’t get the wins we performed well and the scores were close enough in both games

Our play off game against Limerick Celtics was down to the wire and we missed out by just a basket in the end

An encouraging if slightly rusty start to the season  and a great team building exercise for all

Looking forward to the coming season and some great basketball

Academy

Our Academy got off to a great start last week with lots of new faces among our returning members.

The Kerry Sports Academy was a fantastic setting – plenty of parking, teas and coffee for the adults and three full size courts for the young basketball enthusiasts. Coach Jimmy Diggins and Coach Darragh ‘Skinny’ O’Hanlon led the sessions with the assistance of Warriors American players Keith Jumper and Johnathan Lawton and our very own Irish Internationals Dáire and Leeroy.

Regular volunteer coaches John and Erica were also on hand to work with all our new members and introduce them to the sport that seems to have take our town and county by storm.

Senior Academy (boys and girls born 2010) continues Thursdays 6-7pm and Saturdays 10-11am. Any boys born 2009 wishing to get involved in basketball can come along at these times also.

Our Junior Academy (boys and girls born 2011-2014) are on Fridays 6-7pm. Both academies take place in the Kerry Sports Academy at the ITT North Campus.

Registration is now open online. Register via the ClubZap app or on www.traleeimperials.ie.

Coaches & Volunteers

We are delighted with the growing numbers in our club but with this brings the added pressure of looking for coaches and team managers for our players. Even if you have no basketball experience but would be interested in getting involved please contact imperialsbc@gmail.com.

Warriors

Congratulations to Garvey’s Tralee Warriors on their recent wins in their preseason tournament.

As the evenings get darker the excitement is building for the Saturday night lights in the Complex. Make sure you get your season ticket as we support the Warriors in their bid to retain their Superleague crown and perhaps a National Cup to go along with it.

Best of luck to all in the season ahead especially all those who work within our club from coaching and management staff to players to raffle ticket sellers!
