Pride of Place winners Tralee International Resource Centre.

TRALEE International Resource Centre won the Pride of Place Awards in the Community Resilience category at an event in the Burlington Hotel Dublin on Saturday evening.

Pride of Place is an all-island competition whereby local authorities from across the island of Ireland nominate groups in their communities who they feel have made a significant contribution to improving their neighbourhood, working collectively.

TIRC coordinator, Mary Carroll said; “We are still on a high after winning the Pride of Place award, which is a great honour to be recognised on a national stage. This award is for all the great work of staff and volunteers over the past 13 years which has made TIRC what it is today.”

“This award is for all the service users, from so many different countries, that have come through our doors, and whom we endeavoured to help and assist in the best way we can. We will continue in our work to support and advocate for the international community and to facilitate inclusion and understanding between people,” she said.

“We are grateful to Kerry County Council for nominating us for the award, and also to all our funders and supporters who allow us continue our work. We are very proud and more committed than ever to continue our work – to meet everyone with compassion and humanity, and to do what we can to help them during their time in their new home in Tralee,” concluded Mary.

The future is very exciting for the centre as they continue to focus on helping those who make Kerry their home and with plans for ‘The Coffee Pod’ at the centre they hope to help create employment and training opportunities.
