Tralee Mothercare Store Jobs Safe As Company Exits Examinership

MOTHERCARE Ireland has exited the interim examinership process and the Tralee store is safe from closure.

There are 10 staff employed at in the Manor Retail Park, Kerry’s only Mothercare outlet. While three out of 18 stores nationwide will close, the Tralee store will continue to trade.

Over 250 jobs in all will be secured after the High Court approved Mothercare Ireland’s exit from the examinership process.

However, their Blackrock and Jervis Street stores in Dublin and Cruises Street in Limerick, will close early next year.

The retailer is currently in consultation with staff impacted at the stores and staff will be deployed where possible.

The company said that further stores that were potentially under threat will now remain open following the agreement on reduced rents – of 30% across its store portfolio – secured by the Examiner.

Mothecare Ireland has stores in Cork, Dublin, Galway, Tralee, Newbridge, Portlaoise, Limerick, Drogheda, Dundalk, Sligo and Waterford.
