Our Parnells 2016 Summer Break ends very soon. All age groups will train again Friday the 12th of August in Caherslee. Please keep an eye out for manager texts, to see any notifications to individual teams.

Tralee Cúl Camp:

The Parnells Cúl Camp is on from the 15th to 19 of August. Parents please book a place now for your child online. https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/booking/online/?venue=449 The Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps provide boys and girls – between the ages of 6 and 13 – with an action-packed and fun-filled week of activity during the summer holidays which revolves around maximising enjoyment and sustaining participant involvement in Gaelic Games.

Activities are GAME – BASED – a strong emphasis is placed on skill acquisition – and are organised in an age appropriate manner with a view to: optimising learning, enhancing friendships, improving physical & psychological well being promoting school and club links. The camps are structured so that a different aspect of the game is worked on each day.

The programme involves coaching specific skills of the game and the opportunity for children to put into practice what they have learned through small sided games.

GAA 15 INJURY PREVENTION PROGRAMME / WARM UP:

The Medical, Scientific and Welfare Committee in conjunction with a working group comprising of experts including Dr. Catherine Blake, Prof. Niall Moyna and Dr. Kieran Moran have developed the GAA 15, a standardised warm-up programme aimed at reducing the number of injuries sustained by GAA players. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2R3tnD2t8vQ Oisín McConville speaks about how Ulster Club Champions Crossmaglen Rangers have benefited from using and adapting the GAA 15/Activate Warm-up as part of their training sessions. Under 15 Competition:
Next under 15s game is to be played Thursday night the 11th, details will be texted by mentors.

Concussion Resources:
A Concussion education poster will be distributed to all clubs via County Boards during 2016 and is also available to download from learning.gaa.ie/ Concussion .
