TRALEE won its 11th Tidy Towns Gold Medal in a row today and in doing so upped their points tally significantly on last year.
They were awarded 366 points, up an impressive nineteen points on 2022’s total of 347. It was the fourth highest mark of all towns and villages in the county after Killarney, Kenmare and Listowel
In fact, Ireland’s Tidiest Large Town 2023 went to our neighbours in Killarney who achieved 375 points.

For the Climate Action Award, Ballyduff won the Village And Small Town Category. Castlegregory TidyTowns received a Highly Commended in the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan — Local Authority Pollinator Award. Kenmare and Listowel also received Gold Medals.
Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Cllr Jim Finucane paid tribute to all of the Tidy Towns Committees across the county and praised their efforts in keeping Kerry clean and green.
“As a county, we pride ourselves on our natural beauty and from North to South and East to West, we have some of the most beautiful scenery in the world,” said Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Cllr Jim Finucane.
“The work that communities and voluntary organisations do, in collaboration with Kerry County Council in helping to keep our county clean is invaluable and helps us show off the very best of Kerry to our many visitors from all over the world.
“I want to pay tribute to everybody in Kerry who has helped to pick up a piece of litter, or helped in their community clean-up, and ensured that their little corner of Kerry is looking beautiful. I especially want to pay tribute to those who won awards at the National Tidy Towns ceremony, as it is fantastic to see their hard work honoured,” he said.
Abbeyleix in Co. Laois won the title of Ireland’s Tidiest Town at the awards which took place ear earlier today at a ceremony in Croke Park.
