TWO enterprising events will take place tomorrow in IT Tralee involving young students and business start-ups.

The IT Tralee will host its annual Enterprise Showcase from 10.00am – 2.00pm where visitors will have a chance to talk to those who took the plunge to set up their own business in Kerry including past and current New Frontier participants.

This year as part of the event, the Kerry Innovation Centre is sponsoring the Kerry Innovation Challenge – an opportunity for an early stage of start-up business to win €5,000 to help to scale their business.

Also as part of the Showcase, the IT Tralee will welcome guest speaker Con Stack of TRICEL,  as part of its ‘Scaling-up from the Park’ series, to share the global journey of TRICEL.

The IT Tralee Enterprise Showcase is open to the public and free of charge.

Also taking place is the County Final of the Kerry County Council Annual Student Enterprise Awards at The Business & I.T Building.

Over 30 mini-companies set up by local second level schools will participate in the competition.

The competition promotes the development of innovation, idea development, business structure, sourcing of finance, marketing/sales and the presentation of a formal business plan.

A wide array of trading projects will be presented magazines, upcycling clothes, candles, educational technology and many more.

The students progress through the establishment of a mini company which trades over a period of a number of months.

Prizes will be awarded at Junior, Intermediate and Senior level. There will be special awards for best idea and most innovative project. The winners of the County Student Enterprise Awards go forward to the National Finals to be held in Croke Park on 2 May 2018.
