Volunteers are wanted to plant marram grass at Fenit Island.
THE Fenit Development Association is hoping people turn up for an important event this Friday at Fenit Island.
As part of Clean Coasts week which takes place from May 6-15, volunteers are needed to plant Marram grass, which will help protect the dunes. The erosion of the dunes is becoming a serious problem according to Nanette Moore of Fenit Development.
“We need plenty of people out there to help. If the tide breaches the sand dunes the fields, houses, etc behind it will be in huge danger,” said Nanette.
People are asked to come anytime between 4.30pm and 8pm and gloves and materials will be provided.
