High School Ring

A Fontbonne Hall High School ring similar to the one lost in the Mount Brandon Hotel 44 years ago by Laura O’Brien. The inscription on the inside reads ‘Laura Gleeson’. Look familiar?

A WOMAN who lost her US high school ring in The Mount Brandon Hotel nearly 44 years ago is appealing to the people of Tralee to help her find it.

Laura O’Brien (nee Gleeson), originally from New York, was a boarder in a secondary school in Limerick in 1970/71.

While on a weekend trip to Tralee in May 1971, she and her sister stayed at the Mount Brandon Hotel.

She had her Fontbonne Hall High School ring on at the time and at one point she realised the ring was missing after visiting the ladies bathroom in the lobby.

She went back to look for it, but it couldn’t find the ring and reported it missing. It never turned up and despite searching for it, writing to newspapers and making enquiries whenever she visited Tralee over the years, it has never turned up.

She is now making one last effort to find the ring, which has little monetary value, but it would mean the world to her to get it back. Laura believes it may be lying in a drawer of someone’s home or a jewellery box and whoever found it, may have forgotten about it over the years.

Laura returned to Limerick in the late 70s, got married and now permanently lives there.

It’s a long shot, but if anyone knows about it, or finds it, let us know here at TraleeToday.ie. (See the photo above).
