Zoe’s World: It’s Summer So I’m Gonna Make The Most Of It

Zoe 1ALRIGHT. Let’s just call a spade a spade here and address the fact that the weather has been far from pleasant around here recently.

I know what you’re thinking, “no surprise there, it is Ireland after all”.

But the fact of the matter is that it’s the middle of July and we are all bordering on having a Vitamin D deficiency.

For the first two weeks of cloud, I was keeping optimistic because usually my mood is not monitored based on the weather conditions. However, that composure began to break when the constant rainfall began to set in.

Thankfully, it was my mom’s ever positive demeanour that kept me going. She decided that we were going to the beach no matter what the weather conditions. Her attitude is that on the calendar it says that this is summer, so we are going to act like it.

I would like to say that I took this way of life in my stride, but after a few kicking and screaming episodes (thankfully only in the metaphorical sense), I did actually embrace it.

We are now indulging in an ice cream everyday; a tradition that we probably wouldn’t break even if it’s snowing outdoors.

I know that you may think that we are total lunatics (which is a great possibility), I think that our positivity is rubbing off on nature. On one of our adventures to the beach, the sun actually decided to come out when we got there.

I am not saying that we were suddenly transported to the south of France or anything, nor was it even warm, but I think that slight exposure to a little bit of brightness made the original struggle a little bit easier.

So I think that our original Irish response of being all down in the dumps isn’t exactly the best approach. Maybe if we act positive, the weather will reciprocate?

I know at this point I am really trying to convince you of the impossible so that you all won’t look so glum all the time, but if that is the case, don’t you think that it is a pretty admirable effort?

Well I don’t know about you but I will continue my outings to the beach, I will continue to consume inhuman amounts of ice cream and I will attend every happy summer event in the county to keep this positive streak going.

So, if you need me anytime soon, I will be bringing the sunshine to Killarney Races.

(Sidenote: to the guy that controls the weather; this positive streak surely has an expiration date so if you want to remain alive, I would turn on the sunshine button.. thanks.)
