Ballymac U14 girls team on Sunday 13th June just before the throw in in the County League V Kilcummin.

This week from Monday to Sunday our teams were out in all their glory. Smiles and laughter abounded all week. Players, mentors, parents and supporters were grateful and delighted to have our footballers of all ages back in competitive games.

We had a wonderful week and we thank everyone for their cooperation and adherence to Covid guidelines.

Senior Team

The Senior Football League Division 2B
Round 1

Ballymacelligott 2-17 Annascaul 2-10.

On Saturday 12th of June  Ballymac played host to Annascaul in the first game of the Division 2B county league. Everyone was delighted to be back even if numbers were restricted.

Annascaul got off to a lightning start and goaled in the second minute of the match. Ballymac responded with two points from play and two from frees.  Annascaul went on to score three more points before the first water break. Ballymac added 1.2  leaving the score at the first water break at  Ballymac 1.6 to Annascaul 1.3. Ballymac were first to score after the water break and they added on 2 points before Annascaul responded. It continued to be a close affair up to half time with Ballymac extending their lead to four points at the short whistle. Half time score: Ballymac 1.10   Annascaul 1.6

The second half was only 10 minutes old when the visitors were reduced to 14 men. This had a big influence on the game and helped the home side to drive ahead. The score at the water break was 2.15 to 1.6. Annascaul never gave up and pulled back 1.3 in the final  15 minutes. The game ended on a scoreline of Ballymac 2.17 –  Annascaul  2.10.

Well done to our players and Management. It was a special night for two of our young players Adam Sheehy and Darragh Sweeney who made their senior debut for our senior team on the night.

Next up for Ballymac is an away game to Dromid. At the moment the game is fixed for Saturday night in Dromid. At the moment the away supporters to games are limited to 25. Anyone wishing to go to the game is asked to contact Club Secretary Fionnán Fitzgerald by text or WhatsApp at 087-9860441.

Minors: U17 Boys.
Our u 17 Team played Beale / Finuge in Ballymac on Monday 7 th of June in round 1 of the Division 2 A county league .
A light drizzle before the game made conditions sloppy on the pitch .
The visitors were first off the mark with a fisted effort from Robert Stack , but Ballymac soon responded with a point from Niall Collins .
A great battle took place around the middle of the field , with 3 Kerry minor panelist’s on view .
Our own Donal Daly was winning some great Ball , and Niall Collins was having a dream start having clocked up 4 points after 20 mins.
Ballymac edged in front in the second quarter when Donal Daly had the ball in the net from a penalty.  The visitors replied with some points of their own from their talisman Kelton Molloy .
A fisted point from James Kenny & a goal by Gary Lynch give us a six point cushion at the interval,  Ballymac leading by 2 08 to 08 points .

Ballymac got the dream start in the second half when Niall Collins pointed to bring his tally to 6 points .
Soon after Maurice O’Connell had the ball in the visitors net and a further point off the left peg gave us  a comfortable cushion as we headed for the last ten minutes.
Kieran Slattery was outstanding in goals keeping a clean sheet. His kick outs were sublime . Our backs were outstanding right  throughout the game , repelling  the visitors forwards time & time again . Skye Lynch reignited our midfield section and his point from 30 yards was sublime.
Our forwards created some wonderful scores and can be proud of their performance.
They were unlucky with some of their chances but the link up play was sublime.
Over all a great start to the County league , thanks to Finuge / Beale for a fine sporting game  and thanks to all parents for supporting us on the night .
They play Moyvane in Moyvane the next  Monday evening 14th of June. We wish them every success.

Kerry Teams
Well done to Peter Keane and our senior Kerry Team on a comprehensive win over Tyrone in the Allianz League on Sunday. We all look forward to the Championship commencing in two weeks.

U15 Boys

U15 Blue Team :  Lee Strand County League Division 3A First Round

We travelled to Dr Crokes on Wednesday night last for our opening game of the year.

On a beautiful evening for football our boys dominated the first half everywhere except on the scoreboard. Great endeavour was shown all over the pitch only for the Crokes goalkeeper making three or four fine saves to leave the score at halftime 0-4 to 0-5 to ourselves.

The second half began with a goal a piece from each side , Jack Joy providing the goal for us.

We went on to add seven more points to Dr Crokes goal and two points which left us four points to the good at the final whistle. It was an excellent team performance from Cian in goals, Cathal, Conal, Stephen and Micheal in the backs. Shane and Eoin worked tirelessly in mid field with Jack Joy, Mairtin, Luke and Jamie doing well.

Next round is at home to Kenmare on Wednesday next.

Match Report Ballymac U11 Gold Team

On Wednesday evening our under 11 played Milltown in the first round of Gavin White/ Adrian Spillane Group phase 1 in there Go Games Division 1  in Ballymac.Thankfully the rain  stayed away  and with just a breeze coming from Bradley’s end  the two teams took to the field. The two teams had met last year which turned out to be a close game and Thurdsdays Nights was no different.

The game itself was a very fast and lively with play going from end to end which started straight from the throw in when Jack Hobbert collected the ball in midfield and gave a pin point  pass straight to Darragh Lyons who made no mistake and popped it over the bar. Milltown responded with a couple of scores soon after but which could have been worse only for some outstanding defending from David Fealy ,Gerard McElliott ,Blake Leen and Ruiri O’Connor.

It was definitely a game of two halves as  after having a chat and a well earned break at half-time.  The lads promised to give a hundred percent , a promise that they definitely kept.It was all started by forwards Darragh Lyons , Jack Hobbert, Aidan O’Connor Jack Stack,Regan Zhang and Darragh Leen who all put in some great work when asked.

They harried and hasselled the Milltown backs into turnover after turnover which our forward s punished with some great long range points. There was also massive shifts put in by Flynn Boyle and Finn Hannah in the middle of the park who ran themselves to the ground. With all this work our Gold team limited Milltown to just two scores in the second half.

It was a brilliant team effort around from a team that have played two games in just four days.

After the game there was a lot of sore bodies but with the biggest of smile’s.

We are all so proud of both the u10 and U11  Ballymac teams ,they are a credit to their families and to their club. A big thank you must be also given to the parents and families for their support last night. Ballymac abú!

Match Report u11s Blue Team County Go Games Phase 1

On Wednesday  10th June our u11 Blue Team hosted Milltown Castlemaine in our first game of Phase 1 of County Football Go Games.  Conditions were ideal on the night for football and our boys tore into the game from the throw in, with some lovely link play between our midfielders Adrian O’Connor and Daniel Moriarty which soon lead to Patrick Leen having a shot on goal that was saved initially but Tadhg O’Connor followed in like a seasoned forward and put the ball in the net. Shortly afterwards we had a second goal, this time from the boot of Jamie Harrington who received a great pass from Ciarán Brosnan.

Both teams traded some lovely points with Milltown Castlemaine finishing the first half strongly. Some excellent defending from Harvey Leen, Eric Quirke, Gearoid Joy and Gearoid O’Connor made sure the game was still in the balance at half time.

This is a very well balanced young team with players able to play in a number of positions.

We made a few positional changes at halftime, with Jack Lynch coming out of goals and putting in a very solid display at corner back. Evan Horgan and Diarmuid Scanlon both contributed well when introduced. The pace of the game was non-stop and both teams traded scores, with early scores for us from Harvey Leen and a goal from Eric Quirke. Milltown Castlemaine finished the game strongly with some well worked scores to edge the game on the night. Well done to all the players on a great display of football and we look forward to our next match next Thursday in Killorglin against Laune Rangers.

Ladies News:

Senior Ladies

In a final week of preparation before the real competitions our ladies sides had a number of challenge games this week. Our Senior Ladies went away to Scartaglin, three divisions above them, and despite a panel of just 17 on the night put in a marvellous performance, actually leading 15 minutes into the second half. However, the Scart ladies had a panel of 25 on the night and their fresh legs took over for the remainder of the game.

Next up is Monday night at home to Dingle for our Ladies Gold team v Dingle in Division 2 of North Kerry League at 7.30pm. All support is welcome on the night.

Our Ladies Blue team is then away in Ballybunion v Beale on Thursday night in Division 3 of North Kerry League. Again all support would be welcome.

U16s Team

Our U16’s were away to Rathmore also last Monday. The girls put in a fantastic performance and won quite well in the end. However a far tougher challenge awaits them next Tuesday away in Fossa, at 7.30pm, for the first round of the Division 1 Co.League. Best of Luck to all these ladies, our only Division 1 side this year.

We would also like to express our deepest sympathies to our U16 coach Donal Rahilly and all his family on the too early passing of his sister Collette on Friday.

U14

Our U14’s had a challenge away to Castleisland of Division 1, it was a good workout and a tough challenge for our girls who play in Division 3, with a panel of only 15 players. The U14’s had their first game in this year’s Co.League on Sunday last  where they were unlucky to go down to Kilcummin.  We were missing one of our Kerry U14’s Jill Quirke and we wish her a speedy recovery.

U12 team

Bank Holiday Monday saw Ballymac U12 Girls return to football in winning style.

The air of relief and anticipation before the game was palpable around the pitch after the long absence.

Compliments to both sets of Mentors and Supporters for observing the silent side-line initiative.

Opposition on the day came in the form of Beale who travelled with a squad of 14 players.

The game was played with 13 a side.

Ballymac had three subs on the bench proving vital to the outcome.

Ballymac started strong with scores coming from Abagail Geary at full forward causing all kinds of consternation in the opposition defence and Michelle O’Connor attacking from Mid field.

Beale got off to a sluggish start with the score at the water break Ballymac 3-01 to Beale 0-01

The low scores conceded was due to staunch defending by the Ballymac back lines and some great goalkeeping.

Beale came out with renewed vigour in the second quarter and struck for two goals and two points without reply from Ballymac.

H/T Score Ballymac 3-01 to Beale 2-03

Sub rotation played a huge part with fresh legs at the right time Ballymac went on to score 2-08 unanswered in the second half ensuring the win.

Scorers on the day:

Abagail Geary 3-01

Michelle O’Connor 1-03

Molly O’Connor 1-02
