 The Irish Academy of Engineering is awarding its highest honour, the Parsons Medal, to leading Irish engineer and businessman Dr Edmond Harty (pictured).  The Academy awards the Parsons Medal for Engineering Sciences to engineers or engineering scientists of exceptional ability in research or engineering technology. Dr Edmond Harty is CEO and Technical Director of Dairymaster.  The Parsons Medal commemorates the work of Sir Charles Algernon Parsons, the inventor of the steam turbine. Dr Harty is the recipient of many other awards for his innovative approach to business, including the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2012 and the Agribusiness Leader of the Year 2015.

Bank of Ireland’s 17th National Enterprise Week, themed ‘Scaling Your Business’, is taking place from 17 to 24 November and will see up to 26 events take place across the country for SMEs with an interest in growing their business. Each National Enterprise Week event has been carefully planned to support specific industry sectors with experts on hand to speak about everything from trends, forecasts and opportunities to personal relevant business experience. The aim of the initiative is to promote and drive momentum for businesses in areas such as manufacturing, tourism and hospitality, agri, finance, fisheries and export markets. 
In Tralee, Bank of Ireland hosted an event on Friday 24 November entitled "Building Our Business Future Together" at the Rose Hotel in Tralee. 
Speakers included Martin Shanahan, CEO, Industrial Development Authority (IDA) who discussed the current market conditions and opportunities within Ireland and Kerry for FDI.
