Mary Daly, President, Food Safety Professional Association, said: “This year was an outstanding one for the Food Safety Assurance Awards in terms of the high standards of quality from all entrants. Thirteen colleges, hospitals and caterers have been recognised for their excellence in food safety across a number of several criteria. These awards really embody all that is great about Irish food producers, and encourage food businesses to reach and maintain high standard of food safety.’’

Dr Pamela Byrne, CEO, Food Safety Authority Ireland (FSAI), said: “The legal onus is on all food businesses to have robust food safety management systems in place to ensure the food they are producing and selling to consumers is safe to eat.  The FSAI is a resource for food safety and hygiene information and we urge all food businesses to take full advantage of the advice that is available to them.”
