Senior Football League    The Senior Football League commences this Sunday March 8th. Na Gaeil will play Glenbeigh/Glencar at home in Round 1 of the Division 2 County League at 2pm.

Minor County League    Na Gaeil minor team were to play Killarney Legion away in round 2 of the County League on this coming Saturday last but it was called off due to the impending storm. Round 1 and Round 2 will be rescheduled at the earliest possible date. Round 3 will probably go ahead this Saturday but no fixtures are to hand yet.

Scór Sinsear     The first Round of Scór Sinsear will take place in Na Gaeil on Friday next March 6th at 8.30pm. Representing Na Gaeil will be Mary Ellen O’Connor in solo singing; Helen Sugrue in recitation and Jimmy Adams, Helen Sugrue, Sorcha Ní Shúilleabháin, Niall O’Mahony, Seán O’Donoghue, Marguerite Maunsell and Clodagh Griffin in the scetch.   We wish them all the very best of luck.

Juvenile Training     Juvenile training has commenced in the I.T. North Campus from 11am to 1pm on Sunday mornings. The U6, U8, U10, U12 and U14 age groups are being put through their paces by our qualified and experienced coaches. Everyone is welcome. Please bring a bottle of water, your gum shield and €2. Enquiries to Colm O’Súilleabháin at 087 908 0465. The All Ireland Cup made a welcome visit to training last Sunday morning much to the delight of all our young footballers.

Munster Final      It was hard luck on Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí football team as they were agonisingly beaten by Scoil Íde agus Iosaf, Abbeyfeale in the Munster Final of the Corn Sheáin Uí Mhurchú competition in Brosna on Friday by just a single point. Donie Rooney was the manager and the team hosted a plethora of Na Gaeil players.

Sympathy   We extend our sincere sympathy to the family of Tony Flavin of Ashgrove, Ballyvelly and late of Ballylongford. Tony played for Na Gaeil and was on the 1986 team that won the Novice Championship for the first time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Na Gaeil Cycling Club    Na Gaeil Cycling Club summer schedule: Saturday mornings at 9.00am from the clubhouse. ALL ARE WELCOME, High Vis essential.

Fir Na Gaeil     Light Football Training for Men who have retired from playing football and for those that have not played and would like to try it out. Very little skill is required. This is a great way to keep fit with light training, ball games and a bit of a laugh. . Training is on Monday and Friday nights in Na Gaeil. Contact Eddie at 0876791460 for more info.

Mná Na Gaeil     We are a Gaelic for Mothers and Others team who come together and do a bit of exercise, football training and socialising. Anyone who would like to join are most welcome, No skills are required, just a good attitude and a sense for fun. Training is on Wednesdays and Sunday evenings.  Contact Eddie at 0876791460 for more info.

Lotto   The draw for the jackpot of €4,000 took place on Tuesday evening last. Numbers drawn were 1, 4, 5, 13. There was no winner. €50 winners were Denis Reen Fenit and Donal Lucey, Chestnut Drive.  €25 winners were Michael Culloty, Alderwood Road, David & Bríd Rath, Ballyard, Caoimhe Dillon, Leith West and Tina O’Shea, C/O Brian O’Shea. Next week’s jackpot is €4,100. All are welcome for the draw in the club each Tuesday night at 10.30pm.

Bingo   Bingo is on every Monday night at 8.30pm sharp. We have prize money of over €1,000 guaranteed every week with a mini jackpot that increases fortnightly when not won.  A door prize and a half-time raffle with lovely prizes will also take place every week. A bus service is available at 087 2817577.  You can ring this number for pick up and drop off.  100% of the funds raised go back directly into the club. The bingo is run on a totally voluntary basis by our club members.  A huge thank you to all the parents who offer their time to run this vital fundraiser for the club.  If anyone wants to donate a spot prize for our weekly bingo raffle, please leave it at clubhouse and mark it “Bingo”. Thanks to all our patrons who support this event on a weekly basis.

Cards   A card game is held every Wednesday night in the clubhouse. This is a very sociable occasion where you meet your friends for a great night’s entertainment and relaxation. Starting time is 9.30pm and everyone from novice to senior will enjoy a relaxing game of 45.

Na Gaeil Juvenile Notes 

U8    Our U8 squad had a break from their usual training regime and had a fun filled morning at the Na Gaeil clubhouse. The magician was a big favourite and we would like thank all those who helped to make this occasion a memorable one.  We are back to business next week when training resumes at the Kerry Sports Academy facility IT Tralee. Please be there at 10.50am so we can start on time.  Please bring water, gum shields and €2. Player registration deadline is approaching, another chance to register next week.

U10   Our U10’s had a break from training this weekend but will resume as normal next week.

U14    Our U14s had an early start last Sunday as they took part in the “Comórtas an Earraigh” in Gallarus. The lads played very well in 5 games, eventually losing to An Gaeltacht in the final. Next Sunday, 8th, the team is due to play its first game in the Suits Select Town Board League. Our opponents are John Mitchel’s and the game is due to be played at 11am in Na Gaeil. We wish them all the best. Finally, everyone in the u14s would like to wish a speedy recovery to Seán Warr following his recent injury.
