THE issue of the return of the steam train between Tralee and Blennerville was raised again at the meeting of the Tralee Municipal District of Kerry County Council on Wednesday morning.

Fianna Fáil Cllr. Johnnie Wall asked that the Council organise a feasibility study in relation to the return of the steam train which was a popular tourist attraction in the town in the 1990s.

In reply, the Council said the current County Kerry Tourism Strategy includes an action to investigate the potential restoration of the steam railway between Tralee and Blennerville.

While there is an objective in the strategy, a source of funding to carry out a feasibility study is required to be identified. They are currently looking for potential funding sources for the study to progress it in that regard.
