INTER-COUNTY : Gavin Slattery and Jedd Maunsell travelled to Limerick on Saturday with the Kerry U15 team where they played Limerick Development Squad.

U12 : The opening game of the Co. League fell victim to the weather last week and was re-scheduled for last Tuesday evening in Abbeydorney. Kilmoyley were a very strong outfit and despite the boys working tirelessly, Kilmoyley won comfortably in the end.

In Round 2 last Friday evening, Ballyheigue provided the opposition in Abbeydorney. The players put in a great team performance throughout the match, finishing with a 4-02 to 2-02 victory.

Team : Tomás Walsh, Darragh Cunningham, Luke Fitzmaurice, Cian Mangan, Cian Lynch, Iarla Ó hAiniféin, Ruairí Ó hAiniféin, Sonny Ryall, Jack Costello, Jason Brosnan, Jody Charles, John Murphy, Bobby Fitzpatrick, Adam Hogan. Next game is against Causeway this Thursday evening(19th) in Causeway @ 7.00pm. Players are asked to be in dressing rooms @ 6.45pm sharp.

U14 : Our U14 team was well beaten by a skilful Kenmare/Kilgarvan team in Round 1 of the County league. The lads started well and fought hard but Kenmare/Kilgarvan proved too strong. Next game is scheduled for Saturday(21st) @ 5pm against Lixnaw in Lixnaw.

U16 : Our U16 team was in action last Thursday evening in the final round of the Co. League against Ballyheigue in Ballyheigue. The players put in a valiant effort but Ballyheigue proved too strong, with our team missing some players on the night. Team: Peter Hinchliffe, Michael O’Sullivan, Gearoid Quilter, Brendain Walsh, Tomás Ó hAiniféin, Sam Griffin, Jack Hannon, Mikey Clifford, Jedd Maunsell, Ruairí Donovan, Darragh O’Connell, Jack O’Sullivan, Gavin Slattery. They are scheduled to play the Co. League semi-final this Thursday evening(19th). Please check with coaches re: this fixture.

MINORS : Our Minor team was defeated by Causeway/Ballyheigue in Round 2 of the North Kerry League played last Saturday evening in Abbeydorney.

The Causeway/Ballyheigue forward line were on form in the first half notching up a 1-08 tally before the break to Abbeydorney’s 0-04, with Sean Holden pulling off an excellent save on the stroke of half-time to deny them another goal opportunity.

We were first on the scoreboard in the 2nd half with quick scores from Michael Slattery and Jack Sheehan from play. We began to take more control of the game at this stage and started to claw back the lead with further points from Adam Maunsell, Dean O’Brien and Michael Slattery.

However, Causeway/Ballyheigue pushed on again securing a 2nd goal leaving the final score at 2-14 to 0-13. Our final group game is against Crotta, this Sunday morning(22nd) @ 11.30am in Crotta.

INTERMEDIATE : The opening game of the North Kerry Intermediate League will take place this Wednesday evening(18th) @ 7.00pm -v- Crotta in Abbeydorney.

SENIORS : We played Kilmoyley in Round 4 of the Co. League in Abbeydorney last Sunday afternoon in difficult conditions.

Michael Slattery opened the scoring with a point from play in the 3rd minute. Kilmoyley came into the game soon enough, adding 4 points in quick succession. In the 15th minute, Brendan Leary sent over a long range free to leave the scoreline at 0-04 to 0-02.

Daniel Collins was on the scoresheet again for Kilmoyley with a pointed free. Michael Hanafin sent the sliotar over the bar from a difficult angle to close the gap to 2 points once again.

Kimoyley had a further point from play before Michael Slattery converted 2 more frees. Kilmoyley had the last score of the half with a pointed free from Daniel Collins leaving us trailing by 2 points going into the break. Half-time score : Abbeydorney 0-05 Kilmoyley 0-07.

On resumption, a long range free from Brendan and a point from play from Niall O’Mahoney had the sides level within the opening 5 minutes of the 2nd half. A succession of wides from placed ball and play followed, which proved costly in the end. However, we got back on the scoreboard with 2 pointed frees from Michael Slattery and a point from play from Niall.

Kilmoyley struck again and had the sliotar in the back of the Abbeydorney net in the 22nd minute to increase their lead to 4 points. Adam Maunsell knocked over a point from a free to leave just a goal between the sides, which Brendan O’Leary secured when he rattled the Kilmoyley net with 5 mins to go.

However, Kilmoyley added 2 further points from play in the remaining minutes, securing victory for Kilmoyley by a 2 point margin.
