THOUSANDS of people are set to make their way to Ballybeggan this Sunday for the 67th year of the Kingdom County Fair and it looks like it’s the spot to bring the kids judging by the line-up of entertainment.
With over €40,000 in prizes and trophies there’s a lot to look forward to for competitors and visitors alike, plus there’s the chance to become the County Fair Rose and go forward for the Kerry Rose selection in a couple of weeks.
Showcasing the best of family entertainment, it will be a family-oriented day with fancy dress competition for kids, kids fashion show, live music, baby show, bouncy castles, busking competition, face painting and hair braiding, an Irish dancing display, tug-o-war, sheaf tossing among many other activities.

A fun dog show is also a highlight and entries are taken on the day. There will also be a Donkey Derby and terrier racing. The County Fair will also select their Rose on the day who will go forward to represent them on May 20 at the Kerry Rose selection night in Ballyroe Heights Hotel.
Vintage machinery is a very popular event and of course they will have Olde Time Threshing and tractor balancing.
There will be Home Crafts, Homebaking and Horticulture competitions with a Food Hall and Craft Fair.
The outdoor industrial section will once more offer a wide range of interesting trade stands.
Considered one of the county’s landmark events it showcases the best that Kerry and beyond has to offer in terms of livestock i.e cattle – dairy and beef and of course there will be the highlight of the day for many which is the show jumping events.
