The vision of the Creative Ireland Programme, as outlined in the Culture & Creativity strategy 2023 – 2027, is to mainstream creativity in the life of the nation so that individually and collectively, in our personal lives and in our institutions, we can realise our full creative potential thereby promoting individual, community and national wellbeing.

Successful projects from 2023 included Píobairí sa Phluais/Pipers in the Cave, a concert of pipe music held in Valentia slate quarry, Imagination Squad hosted by KDYS Castleisland where a group of children from rural east Kerry attended a series of creative workshops to create a collaborative wall frieze to display in their local community hall, and Coming Out an exhibition held at K-Fest aimed to foster empathy and create a deeper understanding of LGBTQ+ experiences within the wider community.

“Creative Ireland Kerry continues to support communities and creative professionals across Kerry, helping to grow involvement in creativity towards greater individual and societal well-being,” stated Cllr. Jim Finucane, Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council.

“This funding provides a great opportunity for anyone looking to get involved with culture to help make our communities, and our county a better place.”

Applications must ensure a significant degree of community participation, impact, and engagement.

The community must benefit from the project, which must be creative in nature. Considerations should be made to realistic timelines, projects to be completed by the end of October 2024 with reasonable budget up to a maximum of €5,000. This is a competitive process and projects should align to Creative Irelands pillars:

Creative Communities
Creative Youth
Creative Health & Wellbeing
Creative Climate Action
Creative Industries
