Austin StacksPEIL AN DOMHNAIGH:

The Rock Under 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 training sessions in Mounthawk Gym are getting better and better. Don’t be missing out, if you haven’t started your ’16 season!

Next Sunday again, boys…our 1st spring outing! Fáilte roimh chách. Timetable: (i) Under 6 players (born in 2010/11) at 10am; (ii) Under 8 players (born 2008/09) at 11am; (iii) Under 10 players (born in 2006/07) at 12.00.

PEIL FAOI 12: Our Under 12 boys will return to action this Sunday at 1.30pm (to 2.45pm) in the brand new Nuns’ Field. An experienced coaching squad has been assembled, viz, Denis Sayers, Kieran Browne, Joe Smith, Anthony Moriarty, Éamonn Scanlon and Edward O’Connor. A fruitful season ahead!

PEIL FAOI 14: Unfortunately, due to the recent bad weather, Nemo Rangers informed us that their tournament would have to be deferred to later in the year. We continued with our sessions in the agreed gym instead.

We hope that we will be able to go outdoors this weekend. All training from now on will have us better prepared for the Under 14 Féile na nGael which will be held in the south-west on 24th, 25th and 26th June.

P.S. The U14 Féile na nGael was mentioned (its official title?) in a question in the Scór na nÓg All-Ireland last weekend and many teams didn’t answer correctly!

See gaascoroifigiuil for all 80 questions. Test yourself! The Kerry and All-Ireland winners knew 78 answers out of 80! Cavan were 2nd with 77; Cork managed 76!

PEIL FAOI 16:

‘Well done’ to all our Under 16 boys who made the trip to Dublin for the Kerry v Dublin National League game on Saturday last. And they enjoyed the challenge match against the Cuala Kickhams Club.

Thanks to Seán McMahon (who only a short few years ago kicked football in The Rock Club field) for organizing the Cuala end of things and providing some superb oriental sustenance for the latter part of our trip.

A tremendous experience…a nice trip, two games, bia blasta and good company! Sympathies to the Kerry team ach beidh lá eile acu…maybe in September! Thanks to our hardworking mentors.

SLÁN LE NIOCLÁS:

Although Nick Gogarty had only been with us for two years, we were very disappointed last week on hearing that he would be leaving us for Naas this week.

The Lurgan (Ard Mhacha) native has been part of our juvenile coaching set-up for the past two years, during which time he brought a tremendous level of enthusiasm and no little football knowledge to Connolly Park. Nick, we wish you all the best! Go n-éirí go geal leat i gCill Dara.

FREWEN CUP (Munster Schools U16½ “A” Football):

The Green CBS footballers faced Meánscoil de la Salle, Macroom, in the quarter final of the Frewen Cup Competition on Monday, Lá ‘le Bríde. (The game had been postponed from last week.)

Ár mbuachaillí ar an bpainéal: Seosamh Ó Lúbaigh, Gearóid Mac Gearailt, Anraí Ó Ceallacháin, Seán Cuiltéir, Dáithí Couchman. Other teams in contention: St. Flannan’s (Ennis), Coláiste Chríost Rí (Corcaigh); St. Brendan’s (Killarney) and the Intermediate School (Killorglin) play this week. An Fhaiche Abú!
