PEIL FAOI 6: (i) We’ll have UNDER 6 football again next Sunday in Caherslee. (ii) Our final Thursday night football session for the Under 6 boys will take place this week at 5.45pm in Caherslee. (iii) We are getting ready for games v Churchill and Legion in October and, of course, the Jimmy Barry Cup competition has to be played. And, so, U6 football fever continues!!

FROM CLARE TO HERE – FAOI 7/8: On Saturday next, the Lissycasey Club from Clare, wearing their maroon and white geansaís, will visit us and will play challenge matches v our UNDER 7 and UNDER 8 young stars. These games could be most exciting matches of the year!

CANTY CUP: Congratulations to our UNDER 9 boys who retained the Canty Cup at the St Finbarr Club, Cork. A mighty result! Our boys were successful in a titanic final v Dublin kingpins, Kilmacud Crokes. The Rock has now won this tournament for the third time in-a-row. Éacht agus gaisce mór! There were tremendous scenes late on Sunday afternoon when joint-captains, Rory Lynch and Jack Shanahan, brought the trophy home to the Clubhouse. Many thanks to the St Finbarr Club for again running an exemplary tournament. Mórbhuíochas le Club Barra Naofa agus le meantóirí agus tuismitheoirí Chlub na Carraige!

JOHN MITCHEL CLUB TOURNAMENT: (i) The Under 8 boys took part in the annual John Mitchel Club Tournament at Ballyseedy on Saturday last (23rd). A total of 22 boys played in our 4 matches and they had a very enjoyable and successsful outing.

Our thanks to the Mitchel Club for the invitation to this very well-organised event which is one of the highlights of the playing year. ‘Well done’ to our enthusiastic mentors and supportive parents.

(ii) On Saturday last, our Under 10 team claimed another ‘3 in-a-row’ when our boys went undefeated in this famed and excellently run tournament.

Following victories over Churchill, Keel, Ballymac, JM and Beale, we met and defeated Cordal in the final. Captain Thomas O’Connell hoisted the cup to cap a tremendous day’s work. Thanks again to Kevin and all his team in the Mitchel Club…running a tournament like this since 2001 is no small achievement and they carry it off effortlessly (or so it seems to the outsider!) and they do it with a smile!

To our own mentors, Ger Power, Morgan O’Connell, Mike Casey, Brian Shanahan, Dex Carmody and Ronan Kavanagh, we give a huge bualadh bos for their hard work throughout a magnificent season.

BRACKER O’REGAN CUP: Round 4 was played at Caherslee, on Thursday 21st. ‘Rockies’ had a hard-fought 0-2 victory over ‘Black & Amber’, on a final score of 4-4 to 3-5. ‘Austin Stacks’ had also 0-2 to spare over ‘Rock St’. League Table: ‘Austin Stacks’…7 points; ‘Rockies’…6 points; ‘Rock St’…2 points; ‘Black’n’Amber’…1 point. And the football is probably the best ever seen in Caherslee! Round 5 fixtures for Thursday 28th: ‘Austin Stacks’ v ‘Rockies’ and ‘Rock St’ v ‘Black & Amber’. Keep it up, boys!!

UNDER 10: (i) The U10 training sessions continue at 6.30pm on Thursday and on Sunday at 11pm in Caherslee. (ii) The John Lynch U10 Football Tournament will take place (10am~2.30pm) in Connolly Park on Sunday October 29th. We’re really looking forward to this tournament…beidh peil den scoth á himirt ann! (ii)

PEIL FAOI 12: From an early 6.30am gathering ag Stáisiún Mhic Easmainn on Sunday last to our return at 9pm, our Under 12 team experienced a day of memories that will last a lifetime! Having been invited to the inaugural Vincent Walsh National Under 12 Tournament by the Templeogue/Synge St Club, our boys excelled themselves by showing tremendous grit, determination and no little skill.

Victories over Kilmacud and over the host club, placed The Rock in a magnificent final against Nemo Rangers and, after a tremendous battle, our boys were victors. Captain Tiernan O’Carroll accepted the shield and graciously thanked all before a scrambled rush for the 5pm train at Heuston…a happy troupe indeed!

Thanks to our mentors, Liam Lynch, William Kirby, Richie Conway, Eamonn Heaslip and Kieran Browne…what a team of experienced mentors…for facilitating a magnificent day. Lá dár saol! Sárpheil den chéadscoth!

FOIREANN THRÁ LÍ FAOI 16: Our sympathies to the unlucky Tralee District U16 team v Ciarraí Thiar in the county semi-final on Saturday last in Listry. Our brave boys: David Oba, Eoghan Carroll, Luke Chester, Dara Barry-Walsh, Seán Quilter, Adam Curran, Daniel O’Rourke, Conor Myers, Cian Purcell, David Bourke, Danny Drághici. These boys will rise again! Tá mianach iontu!!

CIARRAÍ FAOI 18: We’re still so proud of our minors….Dylan Ó Cathasaigh, Ciarán Ó Raghallaigh agus Mícheál Ó Slatara v Doire! How well they ‘carry’ themselves and what great ‘role models’ for our young players….exemplars of what the club player should be! Great leaders! True sportsmen! And a credit to their mentors/teachers from U6 up and, of course, to their parents!

ÁR SINSIR: (i) Our sympathies to our unlucky seniors v Ciarraí Thiar last weekend. Caithfear díriú ar 2018 anois agus féachaint ar na dúshláin atá romhainn….Aiséirí na Carraige! (ii) Good luck to the organisers of theGary Scollard Hurling Tournament.
