SPECIAL THANKS: to Colin Teahon and his company PTS who have been the Club’s main sponsor for the last eight seasons (2012-2019).

At the recent Executive Committee Meeting a unanimous vote of thanks was passed thanking Colin and his company for their outstanding support during this period.

The Executive are now in the process of seeking a new Club Sponsor which will be brought before a future meeting of the Committee for ratification.

BALLOONAGH FUNDRAISER: Scoil Eoin, Balloonagh Primary School is organising a Valentine’s Ball to raise funds to develop playgrounds and playing areas around the new school structure. The Valentine’s Ball will be held in Ballygarry House Hotel on Friday, February 14th.

Proceedings will begin with a Garnish Island Gin reception accompanied by classical pianist Deirdre Millane. This will be followed by a five course meal and then dancing to Arklight followed by a disco by DJ Manus Leane.

Cocktail/black tie attire is optional. The organising committee has invited the Austin Stack Club to take a table at the Ball, seating ten people.

Chairman, Billy Ryle would like the Club to accept the invitation from our neighbours and friends if 10 club members are prepared to pay €100 each per ticket. Any Club member interested in buying a ticket to attend the Ball please contact Billy at 0879808979.

SENIOR FOOTBALL: Our first game of the 2020 season will be a home game against Ballymac in the Senior Town League on next Sunday (Feb 2nd) at 12.30pm.

WELL DONE: to Na Gaeil on their comprehensive win in the All Ireland Junior Final last Saturday in Croke Park. They become the 10th Kerry Club to win this competition on the 19th occasion that it has been staged.

MINOR FOOTBALL:  Opening fixtures for our Minors are a little bit up in the air at the moment because  a number of our players are involved in schools competitions. We now understand that our first two games in the Town League have been rescheduled for the first two Tuesday evening in February.

We have a home game against Ballymac on Tuesday, 4th and on the following Tuesday we are away to Na Gaeil. Both games throw in at 6.15pm. The 3rd and final round is another home game against  Kerins O’Rahillys – provisionally fixed for Saturday, 8th Feb. The top two teams will qualify for the Town League Final on a date which has yet to be confirmed.

In the meantime fixtures have come to hand for the Co. League. There will be five rounds, a semi final and a final. Our round games are – R1 Rathmore (home) 15th Feb; R2 Dr. Crokes (away) 29th Feb; R3 Na Gaeil (h) 7th March; R4 Laune Rangers (a) 14th March and R5 Killarney Legion (h) 28th March.

CLOTHES RECYCLING COLLECTION: Our Ladies Club has now confirmed that their annual Clothes Recycling Fundraiser will take place on Saturday 15th February and ask that everyone start collecting well in advance.  We will accept –Mens, Womens & Childrens Clothing,  Household Textiles ie Curtains & Towels, Soft toys, Shoes, Handbags, Belts. We cannot accept duvets or pillows.  All items must be clean & dry.

CONGRATULATIONS: to former Club Hurler and Footballer, John Barry, who was deservedly inducted into the Greyhound Industry’s Hall of Fame for his outstanding contribution to greyhound racing as Sports Editor of the Kerryman for over fifty years.

CLUBHOUSE: As always the Clubhouse is available for all types of Parties and Functions. Enquiries about Club Bookings should be made by contacting Harry Hynes at 087 2467286.
Bar opening hours are as follows: 7pm to 12.30am on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays, and 12 noon to 11pm on Sundays.

CARDS: The 45 Card Sessions continue in the Clubhouse on every Monday and Thursday nights, commencing at 9.30pm each night.
All at the Cards extend sincere sympathy to Mick Kennedy on the death of his brother Pat in Limerick.

LOTTO: Last Night’s (27th January) Jackpot, worth €13,050, was not won. The numbers drawn were 1, 5, 7, 20.
The €20 winners were: Dan Brosnan, Ross Sugrue and John Carroll, all c/o Carmel O’Neill; and Martin Collins and Brian Phelan, both c/o The Club.

Lotto Tickets are on regular sale at the Rock Street Post Office and at the Stacks Clubhouse, as well as from our other regular outlets. And from now on tickets will also be on sale at Kevin Barry’s Shop in Rock Street.

We continue to remind members that we are in competition with other clubs until April 2020 to retain our very important Lotto Franchise at our local post office on Rock St.

Every time you are in the post office let Martin and staff know that you are a Rockie and to register your transaction in favour of Austin Stacks. The Club with the most points will win the franchise.
