SENIOR FOOTBALL: As we write we still await confirmation for a firm date for the opening round of the Club Championship scheduled for the w/e of  25th July. Rounds two and three will then go ahead on the following two weekends with the final to take place later in the season.

The first round of the Co. Championship is down for the week-end of 23rd August. With a straight knock-out system involved this year and 16 teams competing the quarter finals are scheduled for the following week-end (30th Aug) with the semi finals to take place on the w/e of 13th Sept and the final down for decision on Sunday, 27th September.

We will have a tough encounter in the opening round against Dr. Crokes who have been our bogey team for many years. Our last Co. Championship win against the Killarney side was almost 20 years ago – that was in the semi final of the 2001 campaign. Since then we have played them in six Co. Championship ties – losing all six games.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Competitions are also due to take place in the McElligott, Molyneaux and Barrett Cups competitions for our B and C teams but nothing concrete has come to hand as yet.

U20/21 FOOTBALL: Even though a statement issued by the Co. Board on the 17th June indicated that there would be no U20/21 Championship this season that decision was overturned at a later meeting of the Co. Board and we now understand that there will indeed be Co. Championship action this season with details to be published later .

MINOR FOOTBALL: Fixtures have now come to hand for our three round Co. League games which gets underway on Friday week (17th July). We travel to Castlegregory for our round one game with a 7pm throw-in. Then we have two home games against Na Gaeil in round 2 on Saturday 15th August and against An Ghaeltach on Saturday 5th September. Both games throw-in at 4pm.
In between we will be involved in Co. Championship action (this will be confined, for the first time at Club level, to our U17s). As in previous years the Championship will be straight knock-out. All Championship games are fixed for Monday evenings. The first round and quarter finals will be fitted in between the first two rounds of the League – round one on 3rd August and the quarter finals a week later on the 10th August. The semi finals and final are then fitted in between the second and third rounds of the League – the semi final on 24th August and the final, a week later, on 31st August. So now we will have at least four games and, if we go all the way in the Championship, we could have seven games in a seven week period.
