RACE NIGHT: Unfortunately, due to the current pandemic situation, last Friday’s Race Night had to be postponed. A new date will be fixed in due course..

SENIOR FOOTBALL: Now it’s just days away from an occasion which both Clubs haven’t witnessed in over 85 years.

It was on the 18th October 1936 when both sides last met in a Co. Championship Final. We won that Final by 0-6 to 0-4.

It was our 5th title after wins in 1928, 1930, 1931 and 1932. And look at the connection on that 1936 team and the current team.

On that 1936 team were the Doyle brothers, John Paul and Miko. John Paul was her father and Miko her uncle. We are referring to Angela Stephenson (nee Doyle) – mother-in-law of today’s outstanding player, Kieran Donaghy.

Come on to the present and look at the connections between both teams. Start with our Club Secretary, Elma Nix (McMahon) wife of Tom Nix who, with his brother Morgan, played with Rahillys.

Then we have Sarah Hoare who plays with our Lady SF team, a sister of Tom Hoare, the Rahillys midfielder, both grandchildren of Denis Dee Butcher O’Regan.

Conor O’Sullivan’s father, Timmy played with the Rock when he was very young and with Strand Road at Senior level and of course Conor’s grandfather, Denis was a Rahillys and Kerry stalwart in the sixties and seventies.

His mother is Gráinne Power, a Rock woman through and through. Ross O’Callaghan (KOR) is a cousin of our own Shane O’Callaghan and they could be marking one another on Sunday. And that’s just the connections that we are aware of – there could be more.

And as we are on football let us send congratulations and best wishes to Club Footballer, Brendan O’Sullivan and his new bride, Ciara who got married last Saturday.

SUPPORTERS CLUB: Kevin O’Carroll informs us that Supporters will gather from noon at the Club Grounds and will march from 1.15pm down the Rock and up through town in time to welcome our heroes on to the field from our Terrace location. All are welcome.

CONGRATULATIONS: from everyone in the Senior section of the Club to Melissa Whyte, daughter of Josh and Dell, on her recent election as Chairperson of the Ladies Club.

FITNESS CLASSES: The Individual Pod Fitness Training sessions continues in the Clubhouse every Tuesday and Thursday evenings  from 7pm to 8pm. All are welcome. Contact Diane at 087 7940531for further information.

DECEMBER IN THE PAST (01/12 to 07/12). On the field of play our C team won their 3rd Co.
