SENIOR FOOTBALL: The final round of the Co. League goes ahead at the week-end with a must win for our lads in their game away to Gneeveguilla who are also battling relegation. They are on 9 points, we are on 8. The outcome as to who stays up or goes down could be decided on the results of the four teams who are on ten points – Dingle, Kerins O’Rahillys, Milltown-Castlemaine and Rathmore. All games are fixed for Sunday (9th July) at 2pm.

THE C TEAM: Laune Rangers 3-14; Austin Stacks 3-8.

This Co. League Shield Final played in Currow on last Sunday afternoon (2nd July) was an entertaining affair and even though we lost at the end by six points all our nineteen players who lined out put up some brilliant performances throughout the hour.

Rangers pointed after just 15 seconds but we responded well and good play by Joey Kinsella put David Leonard through for a well-taken goal. Rangers then added a goal and a point before David pointed again for us. Rangers then took control again, adding a further goal and four points (to one point for us from a Damien Hogan free) to leave them ahead by seven (2-6 to 1-2) as the game entered the last five minutes of the half. However we finished strongly with David Leonard adding a further goal and a point to give him The Celsius Man of the Match Award even at that stage of the game. We were now just three points behind at the break (2-6 to 2-3).

The second half was similar to the first with the opposition out-scoring us again by three points (1-8 to 1-5). Damien Hogan was our man in command during this half, scoring a goal and three points, all from play, with Joey Kinsella adding our other two points, both from well-taken frees.

So again great work put in by Aidan, Kevin and Tommy with our lads with the Barrett Cup yet to come.

Team: Brian Horgan, Tom McLoughlin, Joe Reidy, Shane Kelliher, Billy Stack, Chairdhe Fitzgerald, Dean Scanlon, Damien Hogan (1-4 – one free), Brian O’Sullivan, Jeoy Kinsella (0-2 frees), Jack Doyle, Jimmy Charles, David Leonard (2-2), Darragh Moriarty.

Subs used: Gavin Slattery (21m), Ger Teahon (42m), Daniel O’Rourke (42m), Adam Conway (54m).

We are now down to play Ardfert in Connolly Park on this Thursday evening (6th July) at 7.30pm in the opening round of the Tralee/St. Brendans Junior League.

THE D TEAM: Beaufort 0-6; Austin Stacks; 3-11

The D Team continued their outstanding season so far with another massive win away to Beaufort last Friday night (30thJune). In their opening game in April they had a 25 points win at home to Scartaglin (5-14 to 1-1). Then last week in Clounmacon they had 14 points to spare (3-11 to 0-6) and now they have broken the record in Beaufort with a 26 points win. They now top the League Table on 8 points along with Tarbert..
