Senior Men:  Intermediate Championship RD 1 – FT Austin Stacks 2-18 Ballydonoghue 1-8. Our Seniors made a winning start to their Intermediate Championship campaign with a well-deserved victory over Ballydonoghue last Saturday evening (Aug 12th) in Listowel.

Stacks dominated this game from start to finish. With the Rock very much in control around the middle, and Sean Quilter on song, Stacks were 0-5 to 0-1 clear after 21 minutes.

A margin they had extended to 0-10 to 0-5 by HT. When Donagh Mc Kivergan struck for Stacks first goal just 3 minutes into the second half to put nine points between the sides (1-11 to 0-5) it was clear that there was only going to be one winner in this one.

Colin Griffin who was introduced as a sub mid-way through the second half was on the end of a Shane O Callaghan pass in the 60th minute to score Stacks second goal, before the hard-working Greg Horan wrapped up the evening with a point from play.  FT Austin Stacks 2-18 Ballydonoghue 1-8.

Sean Quilter simply on fire throughout,  scoring 9 points (3 frees) – several absolute beauties.  Also, a mention for goalkeeper Michael Tansley who had a great game between the posts for the Rock once again.

Stacks Supporters left Listowel happy with the result but would also have been delighted to see the return of players Jack O’Shea, Dylan Casey, Colin Griffin and Michael O Gara to the fold. After the match Sean Quilter was presented with the Celsius Menswear MOTM Award.
