Austin Stacks CrestSENIOR FOOTBALL:

With most pitches saturated from the wettest winter on record, the heavy rain on late Saturday afternoon (13th Feb) really put the kaibosh on our Town League (R1) game going ahead at the Mitchels pitch later that evening.

So it’s now in the lap of the gods as to when any game will be played in the immediate future. With the Mitchels game to be rescheduled, our three other games in the Town League are at home against Na Gaeil on next Sunday (21st Feb) at 12.30pm and then away games against Ballymac (28th Feb) and Kerins O’Rahillys (13th March).

The top two teams qualify for the Final, on a date to be confirmed.

MINOR FOOTBALL:

Likewise our Minors had their Town League (R3) game against Ballymac postponed, also as a result of unplayable pitches – this after our round 2 game (against Na Gaeil) was postponed from the previous weekend.

Round 1 of the Co. League is scheduled for next Saturday (20th Feb). In this we have a home game against Firies commencing at 4pm.

Our remaining games are away in rounds 2 and 3 – against Listowel (5th March) and Gneeveguilla the following week (12th March).

In the two closing rounds of the competition we are at home – against Kerins O’Rahillys (on Easter Saturday, 26th March) with the 5th and final round, six days later, against Dr. Crokes (Friday, 1st April).

CONGRATULATIONS:

To former Club Footballer, Don Shanahan and his wife Karan on the birth, at the weekend, of a baby girl named Lucy – a grand daughter for Ted & Mary Shanahan and James & Assumpta O’Driscoll.

Also to the Kerry Hurlers who had a great start as newcomers to Division 1B of the NHL with a well-deserved seven points win over Laois (1-24 to 2-14) in O’Moore Park, Portlaoise, yesterday.
