Membership 2016 is now due. A registration night will be held in the club bar on this Wednesday night (2nd March) from 8 to 9 o clock to facilitate anyone wishing to pay their membership.

SPORTS FORECAST COMPETITION:

This is a reminder that the closing date for the submission of your Sports Forecast Sheets is next Monday (7th March). Completed sheets may be given to Club Treasurer, Mike Kenny or handed in to Des Griffin in the Bar.

 MINOR FOOTBALL:

To date only one of our three Town League games has gone ahead  as scheduled – that’s the game against Kerins O’Rahillys (which we won by 0-12 to 1-5). The two remaining rounds (away to Na Gaeil and at home against Ballymac) have to be refixed.

It’s back to Co. League duty on next Saturday afternoon (5th March) when we travel to Listowel to play the local side in round 2 of the competition. Throw in 4pm.

Our remaining three games in the group stage of the Co. League are away in round 3against Gneeveguilla (12th March) and then two home games in rounds 4 and 5  – against Kerins O’Rahillys (on Easter Saturday, 26th March) and Dr. Crokes (Friday, 1st April).

SENIOR FOOTBALL:

Like our Minors none of our games in the SF Town League have, so far, been played. The postponed round 1 game, against John Mitchels, has been re-fixed for next Friday night (4th March) at 8.30pm at the Mitchels Pitch under lights.

Rounds 2 and 3 (against Na Gaeil and Ballymac) have yet to be refixed and the 4th and final round game, away to Kerins O’Rahillys is due to go ahead as scheduled on the weekend of the 13thMarch but Stephen and his colleagues have not been idle as, in addition to numerous training sessions, they have played a number of Challenge Games, including games against Killarney Legion and Nemo Rangers – winning against Legion (0-11 to 1-3) and drawing last Saturday against Nemo (2-6 to 1-9).

FITZGIBBON CUP WEEKEND:

After winning the JF section of the Sigerson Cup the previous week it was hard luck on Breandán Caball’s Marino College Hurling Team last weekend when they just failed to do the double, going down to GMIT (Letterfrack) in the Maher Cup Final.

CONGRATULATIONS:

To two current footballers who have occasions to celebrate this week – to Daniel Bohan and his wife Sinéad on the birth of a baby boy named Sonny Michael – a brother for Nichole. And congratulations and best wishes to Mikey Collins and Michelle Sheehy who are getting married on this coming Saturday (5th March).

Also to former Club Footballer, Colin Teahon, and his PST Sports Company (Ireland’s leading installers of synthetic grass pitches) who landed possibly their most prestigious contract to date – at Chelsea’s Cobham Training Ground in Surrey.

As always the Clubhouse is available for all types of Parties. For Bookings phone Des Griffin at 086 402 0808.
