Baile Mhuire’s Contribution To Tralee Area Recognised With Award

KERRY Group in partnership with NEWKD presented a Community Vibrancy Recognition Programme Award to the Baile Mhuire Day Care Centre in Balloonagh on Tuesday.

The award recognises their valuable contribution to the community vibrancy of the Tralee area, the social supports in the provision of day care services for older people and
Community, Environment and Rural Development Leadership.

Established in the mid-1980’s Baile Mhuire, has since then, provided much-needed and varied care for older people in the Tralee and surrounding areas.

Volunteers were instrumental in the establishment of Baile Mhuire and continue to play a pivotal role in the running of the centre, which now employs 16 people and operates 5 days per week.

The Day Care Centre has been supported by NEWKD through Tus Community Work Placement Programme and the Tralee Office.

John Stack, Chairperson of NEWKD, said that the organisation is “delighted to be associated with and continue to support Baile Mhuire, which demonstrates excellence in collaboration between the voluntary and statutory sectors, exemplifying the best in HSE-supported community health care delivery.”
