MINISTER for Education Norma Foley was invited to Baile Mhuire Day Care Centre on Friday for the ceremonial handover of keys for the facility’s new vehicle.

Back in September 2022, Baile Mhuire Day Care Centre was granted funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development under the CLAR programme.

The €50,000 they received was used to purchase a new wheelchair-accessible vehicle to provide service users with necessary transport to access Kerry’s Memory Technology Resource Room and Kerry Stroke Day Service at the centre in Balloonagh.

The new Peugeot electric vehicle was delivered last week and in recognition of her support for Baile Mhuire over the years, Minister Foley was asked to present the keys to Chairperson of Baile Mhuire Edward O’Connor.

“This is a very welcome development and we are most grateful to the Department of Rural and Community Development for granting our application,” said Mr O’Connor. “We want to ensure that lack of access to accessible transport is not a barrier to clients who wish to access our services.”
