Our Senior team lost to  John Mitchel’s on Saturday night last  in The Tralee Board Championship Semi Final. The game was played in The John Mitchel’s ground in  Ballyseedy
The final score was: 2-15 to 2-13.
We wish John Mitchel’s every success in the final.

Ballymac B team on Saturday

.

Congratulations and Credit to our Junior team and management on winning The County Junior League title for a second year. They travelled to Killorglin to play St Michael’s Foilmore in a close game. The halt time score was Ballymac 0-8 to St Michael’s Foilmore 0-4. Credit due to the players as Ballymac were two points down in the second half and came back to win. The final score was: Ballymac 0-15 to St Michaels Foilmore 0-13.

County Board Officer Christy Kileen presented the winning shield to Ballymac Captain David Keane.
Unfortunately this is the last game for our B players. We do not have enough players mid week to play Tralee League and the Junior Cup criteria rule out a lot of players.
We wish to thank all our Junior players for their commitment to training all year. This is a very good bunch of lads who are enthusiastic about their football. Playing B games keeps them together as a unit and they are a valuable contribution to our Senior Squad.
We look forward to next year when we will have at least 8-9 minors who will be eligible to play with our Juniors. The B team helps to develop our young player. Sincere thanks to David Keane who played his captains part all year in ensuring the lads were at training and at games. Thanks to our Management team of Mike Sweeney, Tom Shea, Tony Silles and Sean Brosnan. Ballymac Abú!

U12 Boys:

Ballymac U12s along with some additional players needed to make up a 29 man match day panel travelled by bus to Douglas Cork on Saturday 17th to play a football tournament involving  Ballymac, Clontarf and host’s Douglas. All clubs fielded A & B teams on the day.

Our A team went undefeated through the day and came away as Cup Winners overpowering Douglas A and Clontarf A with some excellent football and fantastic teamwork. Captain Jack Joy accepted the Cup on behalf of his team and in his speech thanked both opposition teams, Douglas for the invitation, Referees on the day and most importantly the wonderful hospitality and catering provided by Douglas.

Our B team had a much tougher journey to reach the Plate Final playing 3 consecutive games, whilst fresh during first two games v Douglas B and Clontarf B these boys put in two scintillating performance against more physical opposition and to be fair left everything on the field to reach the Plate Final. With a quick turnaround to play their final, fatigue was always going to set in at some stage, Douglas had that bit extra freshness a went on to win the Plate Final.

Another fantastic day out for our U12s, huge gratitude to the travelling mentors for giving up their day, Mossy Brosnan, Rob Harris, Roland Rogers and Tony Silles.

To the parents who travelled up, always wonderful to see support on the sidelines and to Douglas GAA for the invitation and their very welcoming hospitality and 5 star catering towards all travelling players, mentors and parents. Fantastic day out with memories made for a lifetime.

Senior Ladies

Junior C Championship

Annascaul Castlegregory 2-5

Ballymac 1-10

Ballymac Senior Ladies got their first win in the championship on Wednesday (14th August) on a wet and breezy night in Annascaul . A great team performance , will to win and no little skill was displayed by the girls . After a strong first half performance which we dominated we led 0-6 to 0-2 & in truth it should have been more , some missed opportunities , good defending by the home side both contributed to keep the score down . Eve Creedon 0-2 , Elle Mc Elligott, Lisa Curran , Aisling O Connell & Mary Sugrue 0-1 each were the 1st half scorers . We defended very well in this half aswell with Una Kerins ,  Mille Luck , Emily O Brien & Naomi O Sullivan outstanding . Caoimhe & Niamh also playing their parts .

The 2nd half we playing against the breeze , Annascaul opened the scoring with a point from the throw in , we responded through a Grainne Kerins point . Emma Sweeney was in the right place to cleverly palm the ball to the net later to push our lead out more . However from the kick out Castle/Annascaul scored a goal of their own when a long ball in found their forward in front of the goals & she made no mistake . Grainne Kerins & Cora Savage got 2 great points , before Annascaul scored another point & followed with a  goal to leave 2 between us  with the long whistle looming . The Ballymac girls showed great composure to gain & keep possession to engineer an insurance point from a Cora free . Final whistle saw us home by 3 points . This victory had been coming with a while , its was great to see the mix of young and experienced players working so well on the night and that was evident in the way the girls played for each other and the tremendous effort made by all to gain a first win over the home team .

A final now to look forward to against Cromane who will be favourites to win but so were Annascaul/Castlegregory ! Some hard training to look forward to now but it’s a fantastic to have a county final ahead of us

Team & Scorers : Robyn White , Naomi O Sullivan , Niamh Rahilly , Millie Luck , Caoimhe O Carroll , Una Kerins , Emily o Brien , Aisling O Connell (0-1) , Elle Mc Elligott (0-1) , Eve Creedon (0-2) Cora Savage (0-2) Mary Sugrue (0-1) Emma Sweeney (1-0) Grainne Kerins (0-2) Lisa Curran (0-1) , Subs : Veronica O Donnell , Sinead Mangan , Aine Rice , Cait Rice , Roisin Long , Rachel Godley , Claire Kenny

U12 Girls

Div 5 North Kerry league

Ballymac Gold  9 10 – St Pats 2 4 .

More than half the Ballymac team were U12 but despite giving away a bit in stature we moved the ball quickly and all girls played with great energy. Most of the scores came in the first half when we took full advantage of a strong wind to rack up 8 6 before the break. Our defence stood up to a sustained spell of pressure from St Pats when they c.f. scored 1-02 but Ballymac kept the scoreboard ticking over and won comfortably in the end

U10 girls

Munster Blitz

The U10 girls travelled to Ballyrickard on Saturday for the Munster blitz with a very strong side. The blitz was a huge success and many thanks to Shirley and fellow Kerins O’Rahillys personnel for organising and running it so smoothly.

The girls played Southern Gales, Listowel and Ballyduff.

All games were keenly contested and some great football was played.  We are back on the road again next Saturday 24th to take part in a blitz in Duagh.
