SENIORS

Ballymac 1 – 15 Scartaglin 0 – 9.
Our Senior team secured two valuable Co. League Points on Saturday evening last with a 9 point victory away to Scartaglin. It was the home side who started the better and had 3 points on the board by the 5th minute.

Our lads then started to dominate and came back into the game with a succession of scores the pick of which was a superb point from a side line by Genie Griffin. Indeed but for some good saves by the Scart goalkeeper we would have been further ahead at half time at which stage Ballymac led on a score of 0 – 10 to 0 – 5.

Our lads started the second half in a determined fashion and 4 Padraig McCarthy points (2 frees) and 1 from Genie Griffin extended the lead to 10 points.

Scart hit back with 2 points of their own but Padraig McCarthy sealed the victory with a goal with 10 minutes remaining. Some resolute defending by TJ Casey, Con Reynolds and Denis Leen ensured no way back for the Scart lads. We used our full compliment of subs which included Jonathan Brick making his senior team debut.

Team: P Laide, Denis Leen, T J Casey, B O Donnell, C. Counihan (0 – 1), C. Reynolds, A Bonn, A Breen, K O Shea, Mike Leen, Dermot Leen (0 – 1), P Mc Carthy (1 – 6), L Sweeney, D. O Shea (0 – 3), G Griffin (0 – 4). Subs: C Leen, M. Herlihy, Mossie Leen, J. Brick, M. Galvin.

Ballymac’s next game in the Co. League will take place on the 16/17th August when we welcome An Gaeltacht to Ballymac.

COISTE NA NOG

FAOI 16: Ballymac 4-13 Castlegregory 4-10
Our U16’s travelled to Castlegregory last Wednesday evening to take on the locals in Round 4 of the County League. After a tough game on the night we came away with a great victory and this result gives us a home semi final. This Wednesday evening we are away to Finuge in the final round of County League.

FAOI 14 : BALLYMAC 4-13 AUSTIN STACKS B 3-4

Stacks B were our opponents in Ballymac in the semi final of U14 central division. Ballymac were always on top with early points from Daire Keane and Josh. Daire Keane then scored 1-3 from frees before Dara Chawke won possession ,passed to Tadhg Brick who found the net. Daire Keane added another 1-2 before the break the goal coming from a long pass from Josh. Half time score Ballymac 3-8 Stacks b 1-2.

Many changes were made at half time and Darragh Broderick ,who was prominent throughout was our main scorer in the second half getting 1-2. James McDonnell looked lively when introduced, Dara Leen, Josh, and Liam O’Brien solid as always.

Further points from Daire Keane completed our scoring though Stacks managed to get through for two goals. We are now in the final of this competition where Ardfert await us, this game is due to be played in Ballymac on Bank Holiday Monday evening .

FAOI 11: Last Tuesday we travelled to Kerins o Rahillys & on Thursday we travelled to Ardfert in Rd. 3 & 4 of Coiste Trá Lí League. Its great to see a great effort been put in by the lads, they are improving weekly and we hope this continues.

FAOI 10: Following our fantastic win in the John Mitchels Blitz the previous weekend we travelled to Miltown/Castlemaine blitz on Sunday last. While we didn’t bring any trophy home, more importantly we fielded two teams which meant all players got maximum game time which was of great benefit to them all.

All the Club wish a speedy recovery to Luke O Connell from a hand injury sustained in a recent U11 game. Luke was one of our star performers at the recent John Mitchels Blitz.

MILE BUIOCHAS: Many Thanks to St. Pats in Blennerville for inviting us to take part in their Blitz. Our U6 and u8 boys had a great morning and played some great football. Well done to all the U6s, who showed some great skills and understanding of the game. A fantastic effort was made by all the U8 boys in particular Luke Griffin, Maurice Harrington, Ciaran O’Connell, Matthew Rogers, Con Sheahan and Sam Slattery. Mile Buiochas also to the mentors and coaches for their dedication and hard work with the boys every week.

CAILINÍ FAOI 13: Ballymac 5-8 Dr Crokes 0-4 Our U13 girls played Dr Crokes on Tuesday 22nd in Ballymac in the U13 C Co Championship . With both sides fielding mostly U12 players and Crokes missing some players also , the first quarter was uneventful with the younger girls adapting to the full pitch .

However once the Ballymac girls found their feet they surged ahead , with U14s Aine , Maeve and Niamh and Ashling O Connell leading the way in the central positions our forwards found their range and we led at half time by 2-4 to 3 pts , goals coming from Emily O Donoghue and Lisa Curran .

We dominated the 2nd half with further goals from Emily 2 & Cora . We ran out easy enough winners in the end , though Crokes total didn’t reflect their efforts during the game . Scorers Emily O Donoghue 3-1 , Lisa Curran 1-3 , Cora Savage 1-1, Aine Rice 0-2 ,Caroline Hurley 0-1 Team : Elle Sugrue, Cait Rice , Caoimhe Carroll , Maeve O Sullivan, Catriona Sommers , Niamh Rahilly , Roisin Long , Aine Rice , Ashling O Connell , Cora Savage , Caroline Hurley , Emily O Donoghue , Lisa Curran , Elle Mc Elligott & Sophie O Donoghue We play Spa in next round on Tuesday 29th time and venue TBC

CÚL CAMPS: We wish all those partaking in Kelloggs Cul Camps this week the best of luck for a fun filled week. Enjoy!
