THE Banna Coastcare Team are planning a monster beach clean-up next weekend where they plan on tackling the entire 10km stretch of stunning coastline at Banna.

Taking place on Saturday, September 16 between 12pm – 1pm this will be their biggest ever beach clean and they are appealing for as many volunteers as possible to give a small bit of time for the effort.

There are three locations to choose from to meet a member of the Banna Coastcare team. You can go to Sandy Lane or the Main Carpark or Carpark 3 and give just one hour of your time.

The Big Beach Clean is part of the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), a global initiative operated by Ocean Conservancy, organised nationally by Clean Coasts.

There will be free hot chocolate courtesy of Salty Souls Cafe for all the little volunteers too. Please bring your own durable gloves.

This event not only encourages the removal of litter from Irish beaches but also provides an opportunity to contribute to a vital citizen science project.

By collecting data on the amount and types of litter found on Banna, they can raise awareness about the issue of marine litter and advocate for impactful policies and campaigns.
