THE Mitchels Boherbee Historical & Heritage Group is once again looking for contributions to their annual calendar which will be launched in December and they are especially looking to celebrate women.

The calendar is always a must have for residents in the area and indeed for people from Mitchels/Boherbee who now live elsewhere.

“As we are nearing completion of the Community Regeneration project we would like to celebrate women, local achievements, and community spirit in our calendar,” reads a statement from the Mitchels Boherbee Historical & Heritage Group.

“The last 100 years have seen improvements in equality for women and we would like to recognise the great contribution women have made to our society. In particular, we would like to recognise the contribution women have made to our local area. If you have any photographs relating to this theme we would be delighted to hear from you. The memories can be from any area such as work, home, sport, charity or any other arena.”

“In addition, we wish to recognise local achievements and community spirit. Anyone who would like to share their photographs or stories are most welcome.”

Any photographs the society receives will be scanned and returned immediately. Photographs need to be submitted by the end of August.

They have created a digital archive on www.mitchelsregeneration.com to allow family and friends abroad or for those who may not have access to the CDs or calendars to access the local history.

The archive details how times have changed with stories about the struggle for independence, rationing, life without modern conveniences and how society has changed.

If you would like to contribute or know someone else who would like to contribute, Paula can be contacted on 087 7697243 or e-mail infomitchelsboherbee@gmail.com.
