A LOCAL primary school has helped to ‘Power Kindness’ by collecting winter clothing for those in need at the Tralee soup kitchen.
Michelle Culloty, a teacher from CBS Primary School, along with her very helpful pupils, staff members and generous parents, recently set out to help the Tralee Soup Kitchen by collecting as many adult hats, scarves and gloves that people can spare. And here was no such thing as too many donations in their mind!

It was all part of the ‘Powering Kindness’ initiative has been set up and is being run by Electric Ireland.
The CBS sent out the appeal throughout the school and even took to social media to spread the word in an effort to help those less fortunate. The decision to set up the drive coincided with the recent ‘cold snap’ so there was no time to lose in getting started!
They conducted their fundraising drive for four days over January and recently dropped off their first lot of donated ‘woolies’ and hope to be back with another one very soon!
Ms. Culloty said that response from everyone was fantastic and that it helped to show the children that while it was easy for them to throw on a coat and gloves, there were those out there that were not so fortunate. Some even went above and beyond the call of duty and purchased new items of winter clothing.
The Tralee Soup Kitchen in Teach an tSolais on Ashe Street provides hot meals and warm surroundings for people most in need. They said that they were delighted to receive the contribution and that all the clothes will be put to good use.
