Sohaib Syed and Christy McCarthy will be working on the introductory track for Scylla’s upcoming album.

A TRALEE metal band have enlisted the services of a local character and singer to help work on a short track for their upcoming album.

Black Metal band ‘Scylla’ will work with well known local man, Christy McCarthy, on their upcoming album entitled ‘Blood Eagle’ which the band hope to start recording this coming winter.

Sohaib Syed, Hassan Ali and Jack Lucey, all from the Tralee area, make up the line-up of the band and this will be their second album, centered around the theme of ‘Norse Mythology’ with the band hoping that Christy’s piece will be around two minutes in length.

“What made us decide to work with Christy was the fact that he has a very unique voice, in our opinion. I think it would fit right into the album’s theme and feeling,” said founding member of the band Sohaib Syed when speaking to TraleeToday.ie.

“Christy will be singing on the intro track for the album. We can’t share the title of the track with you at this particular moment because we haven’t started recording the album yet,” he continued.

“His track is going to have a very folksy vibe and his smoky voice is going to be the perfect fit, taking  the listener back into the old Norse era, which is exactly what we want to achieve with his piece. We hope to record his track in the next two months or so,” said Sohaib.

“Christy is fully aware of the genre of the music and he’s more than happy to be featured on our album. I discussed it with him and he agreed to it without a second thought. He’s looking forward to working with us and we’re looking forward to working with him,” he finished.

Christy is no stranger to performing as he sings with garda musicians every Christmas for charity.
