Senior: Churchill continued their 100% start to the County League with a comprehensive win away to Knocknagoshel on Sunday afternoon. We registered 6 goals in a 23 point victory with a final score-line of Knocknagoshel 1-07; Churchill 6-15. Ivan Parker helped himself to three goals with JJ Prior grabbing two and one from Michael Brennan. Next up is a home game against Austin Stacks B on the weekend of 26/27 May.

Minor: Churchill 3-09; Listowel 2-07. Churchill have qualified for the Division 3 League Final after a hard fought victory over Listowel Emmets in their semi-final in Churchill on Friday evening. The final is fixed for Austin Stacks Park this Saturday at 5pm, where we will play Castleisland Desmonds, who beat An Gaeltacht to reach the final. This promises to be a great match. So come along and support the lads.

U14: In our playoff game to reach the County League 1/4 Final we took on Beaufort in Farranfore on Sunday evening.  We started slowly but after adjusting our lineup the boys came to terms with their new positions and we settled into the game. Goals from Gearoid & Eddie ensured that we went in at half time only 3 points down after playing against the wind in the first half. Dylan was outstanding in his first outing in goals.  John Joe and Cian were strong in the full back and center back positions from where they provided great ball into Ben and Eddie in the forward line, who caused their markers no end of trouble. Churchill started the 2nd half strongly and after wasting some opportunities to add to our score we added goals from Eddie and Ben to seal the win. As usual Donagh Stephenson worked his socks off for the team and showed great leadership as captain. Ben was outstanding in his first outing at Centre forward and Eddie dominated in midfield with David Feeley, winning that battle and helping get fast ball into our forward line.

We next play Castlegregory in the 1/4 final. Special mention for the referee on the night who did an excellent job of communicating his decisions to the players. Beaufort put up a great fight and were very sporting in defeat. The final score was 4-10 to 2-9.

Academy: There will be no Academy training this Sunday morning as the Spa School are hosting their annual Donal Walsh Family Run/Walk this Sunday. Churchill will be hosting an U8 blitz in the Spa on Wednesday 23rd May at 6:15pm. Parents will be contacted via the usual channels and are asked to confirm their child’s attendance.

Special Meeting: There will be a Special Meeting held by Churchill GAA this Thursday 17th May at 8:30pm in the Fr O’Connor Centre in The Spa. The only item on the Agenda is the development of the changing rooms and facilities at our new pitch in Churchill, and the Club will give an update on progress and finances.  As this project is of great importance to the whole community and not just the membership of Churchill GAA, this meeting is open to both members and non-members.
