A LOCAL councillor has called for something to be done about a street in Tralee as he says it is dangerous for pedestrians.

Cllr Johnnie Wall called on the Council to undertake a traffic survey with a view to the provision of a pedestrian crossing at Quill Street in the Clash/Rathass area.

Speaking at the Tralee Municipal District Meeting of Kerry County Council on Monday, the Fianna Fáil Cllr said the street has seen road traffic fatalities over the years and while it has been better lit-up of late, there are still dark areas where pedestrians cannot be seen crossing.

In reply, Council management said they will investigate if a crossing is appropriate in the coming weeks.

They said in order to validate the need for pedestrian crossings a footfall survey determining the level of pedestrian movements at this location will need to be undertaken.
