TRAFFIC came to a standstill in the town centre after Denny Street was closed off to traffic fora short time on Wednesday morning due to a fire.
A small chimney fire at Finnegans B&B, which is adjacent to the KDYS, caused the street to be closed.

Two Gardai were placed at the entrance of Denny Street to stop traffic from moving down, this caused Ashe Street to be blocked for a time as traffic was redirected up there from Castle Street.
The fire brigade got the call out for the fire at 10:30am and about an hour later the street was reopened.
