Duran Duran 1

Duran Duran.

AS TV show host, Jonanthan Ross, beautifully put it when introducing them a couple of years back; they helped many women get through puberty and now they’re helping that same generation through the menopause.

Yes, those flag-bearers of 80s pop, Duran Duran, are coming to Kerry this summer and may God have mercy on us all!

Tralee will be emptied of women between the ages of 30 and 60 on June 28 when Simon, John Roger and Nick take to the stage on Sunday, June 28 at the Killarney Festival of Music & Food

Hailing from Birmingham, Duran Duran exploded onto the New Romantic scene in the early 1980s and went on to sell over 100 million records over the last 34 years.

You don’t get that level of success on looks alone, and the Brummie boys have some seriously great pop songs in their canon of work.

Remember The Reflex, Hungry Like A Wolf, A View To A Kill, Ordinary World and a gazillion other hits? Yep, that was them.

They’re currently working on their 14th studio album, with star producers Mark Ronson and Mr. Hudson, so it looks like the hits will keep on coming.

Duran Duran will join a stellar line up of over 60 Irish and international musicians and bands at the Killarney Festival of Music & Food.

Bands and musicians already announced include Jools Holland & his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra featuring Gilson Lavis and guest vocalists Marc Almond, Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall & Mabel Ray, music legend Burt Bacharach, TEXAS, The Proclaimers, The Undertones,  Father John Misty, Damien Dempsey, Wallis Bird, Mick Flannery, Gemma Hayes, Delorentos, Mundy, Paddy Casey, Declan O’Rourke, The 4 Of Us, Something Happens, Colin Devlin, The Frank & Walters, Walking on Cars, Morrissey & Marshall,  Daithí, Kormacs Big Band, Gangs, Steven Sharpe & The Broke Straight Boys, Tracey Bruen and Lloyd Yates, We Banjo 3, Ham Sandwich, Giulia, David Lyttle, Sleep Thieves and Gingerbeard Family.
