Eight New COVID-19 Cases In Kerry, 631 Reported Nationally

THERE were eight new cases of COVID-19 reported for Kerry at the NPHET briefing this evening.

There were 47 additional deaths and 631 more cases reported nationally. 14 of these deaths occurred in March, 18 occurred in February and 15 occurred in January. The median age of those who died was 83 years and the age range was 60 – 95 years.

The 14 day incidence of new cases for Kerry is 65 per 100,000 people. There have been 96 cases reported in the same period and the rolling five day average of cases is 7.

Kerry is now the county with the fourth lowest incidence of cases in the past 14 days (after Leitrim, Cork and Kilkenny). The national incidence rate over the past 14 days is 162.5.

247 in Dublin, 50 in Kildare, 44 in Meath, 41 in Cork, 32 in Limerick and the remaining 217 cases are spread across 20 other counties.

There have now been 224,588 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland and 4,499 people who died with the virus since the start of then pandemic.

As of 8am today, 370 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 92 are in ICU. There have been 31 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of last Sunday (7 March), there have been 525,768 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Ireland:
• 375,521 people have received their first dose
• 150,247 people have received their second dose
