Fifteen Drink-Driving Detections In Tralee Area During December

THERE were 33 detections for drink driving in Kerry in December, up from 28 in December of 2017 and 20 in the same month in 2016, according to the latest figures from local gardaí.

There were 15 detections in the Tralee area, 11 in the Listowel area and seven in the Killarney district. The majority of detections were between midnight and 2am.

Of the 33 this December, 31 were men and two were women with the majority of those arrested under 40.

Already in the first two days of 2019, there have been five detections – one for drugs and four for alcohol.

There was a large increase in roadside breath tests carried out in December with 729 carried out in December at 209 checkpoints, compared to 555 breath tests at 203 checkpoints.
