THE weather forecast is good, the trophies are polished and final preparations are in place for the annual CBS The Green 5k and 3k Fun Runs which take place this Sunday.

The school will host the event for the fourth time and organisers Helen Kelliher and Karen Tobin, both teachers at the school, are looking forward to another great family event, which has raised over €9,000 to date for CBS The Green.

“We’re hoping for a good crowd and the weather is supposed to be fine so we’re encouraging people to come out and support the event,” said Karen Tobin.

Helen Kelliher said they have 30 trophies up for grabs at the run which begins at 1pm.

“We’ve ten trophies for first 10 runners in the 5k male and female categories, while there’s five trophies for the first five male and female runners home in the 3k, as well as a medal for every finisher,” she said.

The teachers both thanked Lee Strand Milk and Foley’s Spar, Castlemaine Road for their generous sponsorship of the event which is a timed run.

Of course, as well as the run, there’s bouncy castles, post-race refreshments, an ice-cream van, music and an energetic warm up before the sounding of the gun. They are also hoping to have the Tommy Markham Cup won by the Kerry minors at the school.

Registration is available from the school office daily between 9am and 4.30pm. Registration will also be available on Saturday, September 29 at the school between 2pm and 6pm and on the morning of the run from 9am onwards. The cost of the event is €10 for adults and €5 for students and kids.  See the video below of the first run back in 2015…
