Events are thin on the ground this weekend, but there’s still stuff to get up to…

1. Fun at the INEC…

John Rhys-Davies as Gimli in Lord of the Rings.

The first ever Kerry Comic Con is coming to the INEC Killarney on Saturday and Sunday and actors behind some of the biggest adventure movies from Hollywood will be attending the event.

Guests include John Rhys-Davies from Lord of The Rings, Indiana Jones, and The Shannara Chronicles, and Casper Van Dien from Starship Troopers, Mortal Kombat Legacy, and Tarzan. Nicholas Brenden (Xander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) will also be attending.

Meticulously recreated sets from the world of television and film will allow guests to immerse themselves in the worlds of their favourite characters, there will also be outdoor re-enactments from Medieval Combat a wide selection of stalls selling everything from comics and collectibles, to custom pieces and commissioned art work. You can also take part in Family Workshops under the guidance of artist Clem O’Keeffe on Saturday from 11am – 3pm.

All drawing materials will be provided and children are free to hang their works in an allocated exhibition space in the galleries or bring them home. Call 066-7123055.

4. Kerry and Tyrone renew rivalry…

Kerry face Tyrone in the final round of the Allianz League in Fitzgerald Stadium with a 2pm throw-in time. There’s a slight chance Kerry can make the final if results go their way elsewhere, but Kerry will be concentrating on getting a result to avoid any chance of being relegated.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at all the usual outlets including participating Supervalu and Centra Stores throughout the county including all Garveys Supervalu Stores, at and at the Kerry GAA Store in the Outlet Centre Killarney and the Pavilion in Austin Stack Park Tralee.

Tickets may be purchased on-line or at these outlets right up to match time. Patrons, including students and OAPs, who purchase in advance of match day will get 20% (€3) off the adult admission price (this offer applies to 12 midnight on Saturday night only).
