Free Events As Part Of ‘Museum After Dark’ Programme

KERRY County Museum’s ‘Museum After Dark’ season has proven to be a big success so far and continues until the end of the month.

The Museum hosted the acclaimed Irish duo of singer/actress Honor Heffernan and composer Trevor Knight performing from their album ‘The Whistling Girl” which transformed the poems of Dorothy Parker into songs on Friday and Saturday last.

This event was part of the free evening event programme funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media through their After hours at the Museum Scheme 2023.

This Wednesday at 7.30pm you can enjoy an evening with seanchaĆ­ Eddie Lenihan who will tell stories exploring themes of the supernatural, fairies and mythological heroes.

Then on Thursday, October 26 at 7.30pm, join historian Tom Dillon for ‘Folklore, Halloween and the Supernatural in Kerry’.

Tom will explore traditions associated with Halloween and the traditions associated with the Celtic festival of Samhain along with Kerry stories of the supernatural from the banshees to fairy forts, the pooka and more. Everyone is welcome to share their own stories.
