A GOFUNDME page created just two days ago to help a Tralee teenager who suffered a serious injury on the field last week has already raised over €25,000.

Calvin O’Sullivan Shea, a hugely talented soccer and gaelic footballer, sustained a serious head and neck injury in a recent League of Ireland u14 game playing for Kerry FC requiring urgent medical attention. He is currently recovering in Crumlin hospital.

Damien Locke, Head of the Kerry FC Academy, set up a gofundme page to help Calvin and his family expenses during his road to recovery.

The aim was to raise €5,000, but by this Saturday morning, the fund had reached over €25,000, showing the immense support from the Tralee community and far beyond.

Calvin had recently signed for Kerry FC from St.Brendan’s Park FC where he played underage football in the Kerry Schoolboys/girls League.

Last August Calvin represented Ireland at the Galway Cup where he scored four goals in the tournament. He is also a hugely promising Gaelic footballer with John Mitchels and everyone wishes him well in his recovery. The gofundme page can be accessed by clicking here.
