AND so we go to Killarney in two weeks time with Kerry’s chances of a semi-final place hanging by a thread.
They were looking down and out in Clones yesterday until the 19 year old maestro from Fossa rescued our championship hopes…for the time being.
Kerry v Kildare and Galway v Monaghan will throw in at the same time at 6pm on Saturday, August 4 so we’ll all be in the stands and terraces in Killarney with one eye on Twitter for updates on what’s happening in Galway.

Speaking of Twitter, it went into overdrive yesterday evening after David Clifford’s goal. Here’s what people had to say…
Just watched Kerry v Galway from from last Sunday. Kerry are finished they’re done …..cue Kerry drawing with Monaghan beating Kildare and going on to win the All Ireland with David Clifford screaming into a camera “well Oisin Langan …..actually nobody cares what you think”

David Clifford Goal for @Kerry_Official pic.twitter.com/Oopmmu60yu
— The GAA (@officialgaa) July 22, 2018
David Clifford is a shoe in for an all star, he’s a kerry player so all stars don’t count on mantle piece, but at 19 years of age he is the reason the super 8’s are great & young kids want to play football, he is GAA

Forget about man of the match, family of the week are the Clifford’s. Paudie yesterday dragged juniors over line in Ennis for 4-in-a-row titles, David saved Seniors today. @Kerry_Official @TheSundayGame

Clifford will get his due praise. But Kerry were gone if not for Kieran Donaghy. Phenomenal. He’s 35 and last month was out doing sprints after the Clare game because he only got a two-minute run. Hung on in there and once again turns up for his county. #MONvKER pic.twitter.com/NU28XIxbB7

Stunning finish by David Clifford can’t mask what was another sub-par @Kerry_Official display. Defensive match ups were poor. The leaders were nearly all U21 – Tom O’Sullivan, Gavin White, Sean O’Shea and Clifford. Irony is they had two plays to win it after the goal.

The young men of Kerry have kept us in it fair play to Clifford, Seanie, Tom O’Sullivan and Gavin White – shame on the people who doubted these young players after the Galway game
— Sylvester Hennessy (@Slyone1069) July 22, 2018
To say Kerry have been poor in Championship this year is an understatement, but in Clifford they have an unbelievable prospect who’s already shown to be a big game player that has stood up when it counts…🏐💯 #Clifford #SeriousTalent

Jeez, that Kerry / Monaghan match was heart stopping, knocked glasses off the table leaping in the air when David Clifford scored the goal to equalise! Ya can take the gal out of the Kingdom, but it will always and forever be #CiarraiAbu
— Dr Mary McAuliffe (@MaryMcAuliffe4) July 22, 2018
David Clifford may well just be the greatest we will ever see. His last two scores were so skilful, so gutsy and so composed. Kerry can be thankful to him for escaping with anything
— Edwin McGreal (@edmcgreal) July 22, 2018
Hup you boy you David Clifford, goal for Kerry
— Dingle GAA (@DingleGAA) July 22, 2018
Most of Kerry’s younger players really standing up in Clones, White, O’Sullivan, Clifford O’Shea… but too many established players marked absent just like last week. Monaghan poised..

Who kept rolling a second ball onto the pitch to slow down Kerry kickouts in Clones? It must have happened on at least 6 or 7 occasions if not more…..#Monaghanvkerry @radiokerry @TheSundayGame @gaa @Kerry_Official
