SYMPATHY:
The Chairman, Officers and members of the Club wish to extend their sincere sympathy to the family of Robert O’Dowd who passed away last Monday after a brave battle with cancer. Robert was a staunch John Mitchels footballer and supporter of the Club.

As a player with John Mitchels, Robert played at Juvenile, Minor, U21 and Senior level. He was a member of the Mitchels U21 team that won the County Championship in 1983 and played with the Mitchels Senior team at half back from 1982 to 1990.

John Mitchels lost Robert due to immigration to America in 1990. However he returned to Tralee in the 2000s and joined the Club as a volunteer and mentor with teams of all grades. He managed the Junior team that won the Molyneaux Cup in 2011.

His passing is a huge loss to his wife Sandra and children Ciara, Eimear and Fiona and the O’Dowd family.

As a mark of respect to Robert, the John Mitchels Club formed a Guard of Honour from the funeral home to St John’s Church and again after the funeral mass to Chamfers Club House, John Joe Sheehy Road and as the cortège moved on the Club members gave Robert a poignant round of applause as Robert made his final journey to his resting place in Meath. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dilís.

CONDOLENCES:
To the family of Robert O’Dowd, Lee Drive, Ballinorig and formerly of Marian Park Tralee and Moynalt, Co Meath
To the family of Dan Harris, South Douglas Road, Cork and late of Churchill. Tralee
MAY THEY REST IN PEACE
