UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS

John Mitchel’s under 7s boys and girls trained Sunday at our academy on the astro turf. Over 60 young footballers lined out in their respective pods. The sun shone and great fun was had, with some great football skills on display.

Training continues this Sunday at 11am and as ever new members always welcome.

Don’t forget to fill out the return to play form before each session.

U8/U10 GIRLS

We had another sunny morning in the John Mitchel’s complex in Ballyseedy on Sunday, and there was a terrific turnout of u8 and u10 girls, ready to show the coaches the work they had done during the week with their ball skills.

We were also delighted to see some more new faces, and having seen Michaela, Ellie Mae and Charlie in action during the training session, it is clear that we have added more talent to an already committed and exciting group of players.

That commitment was on view from the start when the girls got stuck into some ball drills under the watchful eyes of coaches Padraig, Tanya and Ruth. It was clear that the girls had taken the coaches comments on board from the last training session and practised their ball work during the week. Many thanks to the parents and brothers and sisters who helped them out during the week.

And when the first competitive drill saw the girls battling for possession, it was also clear that there was plenty of grit and determination in the squad. Millie, Ava, Clodagh, Siún, Caoimhe, Áine and Amelia showed some terrific skills, with Aideen, Nicole, Alannah, Noelle and Saoirse also standing out.

After a number of competitive drills, the session finished with a high-tempo game, and Áine grabbed two goals, while Ella, Aisling, Maddison, Emma and Roisin also looked sharp on the ball.

Training continues at 10.30am next Sunday morning in the John Mitchel’s Complex. All are welcome, and we’d love to see more new faces.

John Mitchel’s U9 boys had a fantastic turnout again on Sunday last.

The session started with practicing all of the skills both stationary, walking and then running. After a quick water break it was straight into games where after a slow start the boys found their feet and were firing on all cylinders in no time, with some great scoring and defending from both sides.

Everyone enjoyed the two sessions and are eager to train again. We welcomed a new player last week also which was fantastic.
