UKRAINIAN APPEAL – Abbey of the Benedictine Nuns in Poland.

We would like to say a huge thanks to all who donated to the Ukrainian appeal held last Saturday and Sunday at Ballyseedy. It was great to see the John Mitchels Community Community coming together to support this worthy cause. Many thanks to all.

UNDER 7 BOYS & GIRLS

Fabulous morning training was had by all the under 7s in glorious sunshine.  The boys and girls put in a great session in warn conditions.  All skills were gone through and some great games were played.  Well done to everyone.

We are welcoming new members every Sunday at 11am at our complex in Ballyseedy. So, to all the moms and dads out there, why not come up on Sunday and see what we’re all about?

U8/U10/GIRLS

It’s was a really beautiful morning in Ballyseedy last Sunday morning when training resumed for our u8s and u10 girls. Thomas Kearns put the girls through their paces with a fun filled session, focusing on the core principles of Gaelic football, catching, passing and kicking.

We have a really attentive group of girls this year and the effort given by all was fantastic to see. The girls were in fantastic form and we would like to thank all the parents and guardians for taking the time to bring the girls to each session.

The improvements are visible week on week and the future looks bright as we have a group of superstars training each Sunday morning. Training resumes next Sunday morning at 11 am. Please bring gum shields and water to each session and we are looking forward to seeing everyone in Ballyseedy again.

U12 GIRLS

Our U12 girls had a really positive training session last Sunday morning as we prepare for a very busy week ahead with 2 matches this week. We begin on Wednesday evening, April 6th with an away fixture against Kerins O’ Rahilly’s at their Ballyrickard pitch (V92E264). We will be meeting there at 6:15 pm with the match throwing in at 6:40 pm.

It would be great to begin with a good performance and hopefully we will have plenty of family and friends there to cheer on this great bunch of girls. All support would be really appreciated. Then on Sunday afternoon April 10th we face Knock/Brosna at home in Ballyseedy.

We will meet at 12:30 pm with the game throwing in at 1pm. The improvements are there for all to see since the start of the season and we really have a great bunch of girls representing John Mitchel’s U12s this year, let’s hope that we can follow up on the success of 2021 with two good performances this week.

Our club colours are white shorts and green and gold socks and it is vital that all the girls have gum shields for matches as they are not permitted to play without them.We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday evening.

U14 GIRLS

With a number of free weeks from competition, a challenge game was arranged for the John Mitchel’s u-14 girls on Monday night 28th March, with Laune Rangers travelling to Ballyseedy for the game.

As it was only the second game of the season for our team, it was important that we worked hard on our tactics and ensuring that the girls were comfortable working together.

With coaches Denis, Padraig, John, Eric and Karen looking on, the girls played some excellent football throughout, and enjoying a comfortable win. Playing at full-forward, Chloe grabbed 2 early goals and they really set up the team to build on their success.

With a strong back line, anchored by Eabha, Sadhbh and Gia in the full back line and Nicole, Ava and Laoise in the half backs, the Killorglin team struggled to make an impact.

At midfield, Ellie and Brigid, helped by Ella, had a strong platform to attack, where Kelly, Ellie and Kerri were very strong, and assisted the full forward line of Chloe and Dionne. When the changes were made, they didn’t weaken the team, with Katelyn, Tara, Megan, Ella, Claudia and Isabel all assisting when they came on.

With a League game taking place on Monday against Listowel Emmets B, the team held training sessions on Thursday and a light session on Sunday morning with the emphasis on team-shape and tactics. All the sessions were well attended and the commitment from the players has been terrific.

U16 GIRLS

Mitchel’s u16 girls we’re in county league action on Tuesday, away to Finuge/St.Sennans.
