U16

U16s have qualified for the Semi-final of Division 1 of the Co League. They play Gneeveguilla in Gneeveguilla on Wednesday the 6th at 7pm. Please support. Senior Football Junior Town League Strand Rd played Ballymac in the Junior Town League on Thursday last at 7.30 in Strand Rd. Strand Rd were the first off the mark with a point from Seán Walsh after six minutes. This was followed by a well taken free by John O’Connor. Ballymac’s first score came 12 minutes in and was a goal.

Sean Walsh pointed a free to level shortly after and Strand Rd dominated for the next while and it culminated in a goal scored by Seán Walsh to put us 1-03 to Ballymac’s 1-00 ahead with 17 minutes gone. Ballymac did get back a couple of points one a free and Strand Road also scored 2 more before half time.

An excellent clearance on the line by back Derek Horgan just before half time left the half time score Strand Rd 1-05 Ballymac 1-02. Ballymac were first to score in the second half and had equalised before Strand Road got their first score and would have been ahead had it not been for an excellent save by goalkeeper Robert O’Conner in the 6th minute. Strand Roads first score came 15 minute in and was a point from Gavin O’Brien followed shortly after by a point to equalise by Ballymac.

Further scores from Sean Walsh and despite some excellent defending from Jason O’Leary and all round play from Rory Molloy, Ballymac worked their way in to score a late goal in the 31st minute to leave the final score Strand Rd 1-08 to Ballymac’s 2-06.
